No surprise, the wind died down in the afternoon, so I was never in the air longer than a few minutes. But I consider the maiden flight complete. I was able to spend about 90 minutes in light & variable winds before I gave up the struggle. Really looking forward to the next good day.

I'll have to get next week's thread started - post up if you're going out there. I might have more flexibility next week after work. This week was a bear!

Something to think about in regards to pricing: make sure you charge enough that you can still make money if you sell your product through kite stores. Retailers can expand your market considerably. Talk to Big Mike about the margin a retailer will expect.

Jeff - I think he had an evening with almost zero wind . . . . give elix a brake break ;) Of course . . . reverse flight is a bit easier with more brake . . .

BTW elix, as you probably know, you can attach the pictures to the thread (as long as the file size is not too big) and then you don't have to worry about the url going bad (at least until Mike & Jeff upgrade the forum) I'm kidding guys - please don't ban me!

Yes - NICE kite. Hope you can get to a club fly so we can see it in person.

Yeah, it was a very lousy wind day and I wanted all the forward I could squeeze out to get her off the ground for the first flight. When I find a good breeze, you bet I'll be letting that top line out as far as I can and working on my reverse flight every chance I get. Cheers!

Good looking kite! I would argue that putting more brake would help even in light winds.

See this post for a photo of iQuad's handles knots vs the B-series knots:
viewtopic.php?f=8&t=1046&hilit=knots#p9113

And here's 180GO!'s knots.

When on iQuad, even in almost no wind, none of us would fly further back than a few knots. Note that's still the very end of the B-Series knots.

Flew at Meinecke Park in Schaumburg just an hour ago, really lame wind, 0 gusting to 1, new build flew bueatifully. Sail still flutters even though it's stretched quite tight. Any suggestions anyone?

Is is the trailing edge that flutters? Maybe change the curve?

I think you're right, but I'll have to make other changes as well. I originally cut the sail material so I could build it from two pieces, and the two bottom tip edges formed a 90-degree angle to each other, figuring this would keep those edges taut. It did, but that made the entire leading edge cut on the bias. Lots of stretch = lots of bow. I switched the leading edge tubing from Skyshark P100 to rev 3-wrap and lengthened it six inches. This stiffened the leading edge, increased the bow, but reduced the flutter. I believe I'll have to cut away about 4-6" of leading edge and sew in a piece that's parallel to the weave. This should reduce/eliminate the bow of the leading edge. As it is now, the leading edge is bowed to about one-sixth of a circle. (
