The current forecast is only a 17% chance of rain, and winds of 13 mph coming from the west. Westerly winds are the best in Zahnd park.

According to the parks department, Zahnd park is forecast to have baseball games but no football games.
That's good for us, because it means the bathrooms will be open and the football fields will be available for flying.

So, the forecast is for a great day of flying!

Saturday is an impromptu fly at our Summerfest grounds! Wish you and all the IKEers could attend!

Hi Jynx (love saying that *grin*)

What time? I can't make it all the way to Champaign, but I could make it up to Milwaukee - can I fly a 3M traction kite up there?

Wendy ~ This Saturday (the 20th) I'll be at the EAA Kite Fest in Oshkosh WI. If this is a bit too far for you... Make sure you keep Sept. 12-13th open for our BIG Motts Fest at the MIlwaukee Lakefront. I have room if you wish to stay.

Details on both the EAA and Motts:

Yes it was! The winds were perfect for a mid-vent all day long ... the winds slowly moved between non-vented and vented speed during the day. Sure looks like the 180GO! group could use a set. The temps were a little high for most of the day ... even Arizona Mike was complaining about getting back home where it was cooler. Lot's of dual line kites were in the air. Paul's new dualie with it's loooong tail sure makes you stop and watch when it's flying.

Someone will post pictures of the group sitting in chairs under a shade tree while team flying. Didn't think it could be done, but it turned out to be kind of neat to watch.

My thanks to little Mike for the pizza lunch ...

Mike, good to see you again.

Cheers,
Tom

Back in Michigan, we stopped at the Auburn, Cord Museum in Auburn, IN. They have a awesome collection of cars, if your in the area you should check it out.

A great day flying for me. One of my best ever.

Thanks to everyone for bringing out all the kites and letting me try them. It was nice to meet Mike M, Mikey and Shari, and Joanne. We may have set a record with four IKE Mikes flying on one field. Thanks to Mike K for lunch and quick field repairs.

I'm slowly posting pictures to IKE's Flickr accont. More to come.

Last set of pictures uploaded to Flickr. Problems with home network so I can't load one here. Link below is a link to Flickr and a picture of Anne flying.

Next time I'll get down to the end of the field and get the dual lines as well!
