How about a quick club fly in Pontiac this [strike]Saturday (Nov 1)[/strike]? Sunday, Nov 2
It may be the last warm day before I start whining about the cold.
The current forecast is even predicting wind.

Usual place, usual time.
9-5 pm

I'm game! The forecast of 10 mph winds look good ... temps in the high 50's ... nice!

Besides, after flying in the cold today, I came home and got out my winter weight clothes. I might look like Charlie Brown, but warmth before fashion is my mantra.

Cheers,
Tom

Sounds good, have a little conflict with Metamora's Playoff Football game, but think I'll bypass it and try to be at the fly. Hope to see some of you there. Jim

sounds good to me too... our back-ups need to get the feel for team flying to, not to mention for those MEGA-Flies that are happening at the kites fest everywhere. Good thinking Mike(Papa Smurf).

Sorry I will be missing it!!

Won't be able to make this one.

It's the day after our Halloween party and I plan on being very hung over.

I went to a Halloween party last weekend ;)

Anyway, the wind forecast looks dismal for Saturday:

And good for Sunday.

How about we change the date to Sunday???

Jeepster?
Stephensons?
Jgrob?
Brownssl?

as I figured, I am booked solid every weekend for playing at church, rehearsals for our Christmas show and 2 large video projects... not to mention work.. I don't have a minute to myself (other than driving) until after December 7th!

Sunday it is then.

I hate relying on the weatherman for wind forecasts. I hope it doesn't change again. Doesn't matter though, Sunday is the day now.

edit: the forecast just added 5mph to Sat and dropped 5-7mph for sunday. sigh. but sunday still looks better.

Sunday sounds good, this way I can drive the ambulance to the Metamora Football Playoff Game as I had orginally planned. Hope to see you folks and hope the winds are favorable. Jim

I'm looking out my window and it is dead still. No wind at all.
In a way, yahoo! I got it right. I picked the right day for the club fly. That is to say, not today.

The little that is predicted for today is coming from the NE. I don't trust easterly winds down in this part of the state. They're never good (really!).
Tomorrow, Sunday, the day of the fly we have South winds predicted. South and West winds are our best winds.
Tomorrow should be great!

Don't forget to change your clocks tonight, and see you tomorrow. I'll be there bright and early with quads and roks.

Oh, you might want to bring a lunch and water. There's also fast food in town.
At the end of the day, we usually go out for dinner before driving home.
See y'all soon!

Oh yes, Mike did make a good decision on which day to fly. The wind started out non-vented and went quickly to vented where it stayed for the rest of the day. The IKE sled (parasail?) stayed up all day. The winds were strong enough that my 2.4 sled dove into the ground once, bounced back in the air and took off to fly for the rest of the day. If you missed the quick fly you missed a great day of flying and fellowship.

jgrob may be a new member, but the back of his suburban looks like he's a long time member ... revs, duals and single line kites covered the floor. He alternated between his revs and dual line kites all day. Mike S was ecstatic ... seems he may have infected an additional person with the rev virus. Paul flew a rev for part of the day ... then spent the rest flying his dual lines. Shawn had a smile on his face all day flying a rev and a power kite. He should have a smile 'cuz every other time he and I have gotten together to fly this summer the wind has died. Rich practiced with his rev all day. Zack alternated between his power kite and a rev. Anne spent most of the day with a rev and took a turn on the power kite.

My thanks to the 180GO! guys who didn't attend today. Since you guys were absent, Mike and Nick invited me to try position three ... Mike S took position two. I did reasonably well with the moves I screwed up two months ago, but now have a new list of things to practice. Amazing how your brain and your hands simply stop talking to each other on some transitions. Mike was very polite and chose his words with care, but listening between the words he told me that "I don't have any colossal problems, just need to practice everything!" Hmmm ... sounds like I'm making progress.
