9/24-25: Quad Cities Kite Festival--don't miss it!

Postby Mike » Tue, Sep 06 2011, 01:22 PM

The Quad Cities Kite Festival
Sept. 24 & 25, 2011
Centennial Park - Davenport, IA
http://www.qckiteclub.com/NEWSITE/index.php

This is a fun festival with room to fly. In addition to 180GO!, we'll be having Bol races and Rok battles, so come and play!
Rev fliers can join in for a mega fly-- the more quad fliers that show up, the more fun! Make sure you have 120 foot lines (if you don't, call Big Mike at http://thekitesite.net/).

Looking at the calendar, I have to play this one by ear. David has a soccer game that Saturday (probably midday). That means Saturday is likely out. Maybe I can get out there for Sunday.

Mega fly!

Are most people staying both days? I don't think I can make Saturday due to David's soccer game but I might be able to make Sunday.

I'm glad we made the second day - even though the wind was light and the sky was cloudy. We had a good time, despite no wind when David and I tried to fly on the demo field. David especially enjoyed the paper rocket launching - I'm glad that guy was there or it would have been a long afternoon for him. I had a great time during the mega fly at the end of the afternoon. Wish we could do it more often. Also, 180GO! was awesome, as always. It was nice to see everyone and meet some new folks - Mux & Paul.

Another really fun weekend in the Quad Cities! Thanks so much to James for putting this festival together.
And thanks Steve and David for bringing the brownies today. The chocolate and sugar boost was just I needed :)

It was good seeing some faces I haven't seen in a while, someone has a group photo that they'll will post here soon.

If you missed it this year, be sure to come next year and tell your friends.
