Hey Mopjomark,
Welcome!
To be more specific on your spar question: You want a 3-wrap, skinny spar for the leading edge. The same size as the down spars on your kite. It's a 1/4" diameter spar rather than the wide 1/2" spar that comes in the old SLEs.

Thanks for the welcomes and the information. I will be ordering the spars shortly!

One other item I was wondering about - Darkspark - you had custom handles (very cool) that had long leaders with quite a few knots for adjustment purposes. I would like to replicate that with my stock handles. Were do I buy the right line for making those leaders in that small of a quantity? Would that be bridle line?

Thanks again!

You don't need to buy any line at all!
The line on your handles right now is a loop. Untie the loop, tie a knot at the end of the line, and tie it on to your handles like so:

How about these two photos:

The top and bottom lines are shown on the ruler. You don't have to space the knots as shown, it's just how 180GO! does their knots.
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Makes sense - pretty straightforward - thanks!

Guys, I didn't ask at the beach, but what was that black vented rev - more vented than usual - looking same as on the top of the teamiquad.com page?

It is Rev's new X-tra vent. And it is my new favorite kite. Good for winds into the 30's. But great from 15-20 or a little more. Then it starts to pull. But I have flown it in 30+, I just had to sit down after a couple minutes.

Sounds like you might be talking about Mikey's Extra Vent kite. Here he is trying to wash the black off.

Cheers,
Tom

Sorry to have missed you, maybe next time.
Have you considered Kite Party in Southern California?

Hey y'all :)

Just posted my festival album here https://picasaweb.google.com/ZarquonsKn ... tival2011#

Still have loads of video to do, that may take a while....

I borrowed a few pics from Kathy - I hate having my picture taken but really like the mugshots with Jeepster & Jinx - how about those eyes! I meant to get decent pics of Dave, Mikey and the iQuads but failed rather on that front :(

Mike - you're not the first to suggest Kite Party :) Who knows...

Now off to rinse the sand from my kites. Gritty endcaps

Finally putting some videos together - got about 10 mins of the festival in general and 10 mins of the mega fly.... for the sake of due credit (and my failing memory) who is the guy in blue 2nd from the right and the iQuad member to his left here? https://picasaweb.google.com/ZarquonsKn ... 6320409570

Cheers

I don't recognize blue-shirt-guy from the back. The iQuad fellow looks like Monkey (David Hathaway).
