Any other IKEers going (other than Jeepster and Mike K.)? I have registered on the GWTW site.
I'm planning to get there early afternoon on Friday (March 11) and leave Monday [strike]morning[/strike] night (March 14). Flying into LAX and renting a car.
I would like to stay at the Shorebreak to be close to the action but would need to share a room for budgetary reasons.
Where else have others stayed?

We stayed at the Shorebeak last year. Very close and very upscale. Unfortunately, they are no longer a hidden secret ... they've raised their prices about 15%. We've booked a room at the Best Western this year ... lower cost for more amenities. The Best Western is a block or two north of the Shorebreak. We stayed at the Howard Johnson's a couple of years ago. Lots of Kite Party folks stay there ... about half the cost of either Shorebreak or Best Western. If you have transportation, that would work out well. It's about 10 minutes from the beach. Mike S stayed in another small hotel right on the beach road ... give him a call to find out the details.

Check with Mike McDonald about sharing a room ... he usually stays at HoJos.

Cheers,
Tom

In the long run, it's probably cheaper to rent a hotel room than to marry someone whose family lives nearby.

"Negative ghost rider the pattern is full"

I plan on staying it my brothers (he moved back close to the beach) for the first part of the week, and hopefully Kristine will fly down for the weekend.

And yes I will be at HoJo's then.... AARP rate $67.20

No wonder she never wants to go to kite festivals with you ... come on ... spring for the Shorebreak or use your old folks discount at the Best Western. Or, maybe you don't want her following you to kite festivals ... never thought about that.

Sorry about the misspelling. The Scots were never good at spelling their names the same every time. Have to look up my mother's maiden name every time I have to spell it.

Cheers,
Tom

Hey Pal....
Rich here.....
I have booked a double room at the Shorebreak and am looking to split the cost with someone. I'd be happy and honored to share with you.
The room is booked Thirsday to Monday but you can definitely have the nights you need.

I'd like to go, but I don't think I can commit due to work until much closer to the actual date. I've got some big client projects due at the beginning and middle of March.

Edit: . . . . and I just found out that March 13th is the Pinewood Derby for my son's cub scout pack, which is his favorite scouting activity . . . . (and probably mine also). He wants to start building his car tonight . . . . . no Kite Party for me this year.

Looks encouraging right now. Likely leave Thursday afternoon and return Sunday night.

We be wearin' um on Saturday.

We have just had a great two days at South Padre Island. If you get the chance, this is a very nice event. About three thousand spectators bring their chairs and watch the action all day. Very well organized.

We had a great time.

Looking forward to KP, and flying with our IKE friends.

See you there. :revspin: :revspin:
