IKE Road Trip to Wildwood, NJ?

Postby Mike » Tue, Mar 16 2010, 06:53 PM

Who's up for a road trip to the Wildwood festival?
May 28-31, 2010
It's around a 14 hour drive from Chicago and we can book a couple rooms that sleep 6.

It's one of the old established kite festivals that's considered a "must-do" and this year is its 25th anniversary.
Here's a link with some info at the Rev forum: http://www.revkites.com/forum/index.php ... -festival/
You can click on the photo gallery here: http://www.skyfestivals.com/

The festival attracts a lot of sport kite fliers as well as show kiters.

There's a banquet, indoor flying, and for non-kiters, a boardwalk with roller coasters and carnival sorts of stuff.

You'll get to make new friends with the cool east coast kiters that you may have only met on the forums.

Hi Guys-

Wildwood is a great time. Tons to do and see; including AKA sanctioned competition- if you're so inclined. I hear there are going to be "special/different things" this year (I have no idea). For the banquet dinner, there's usually a theme for dressing. I believe last year was superheroes.... it's different and fun if you're into it.

Folks usually come from all over the globe for this. I do know that some of the guys from Island Quad (B.C.) are coming.

The beaches are huge; 120's easily!!

Hope to see you out there.

Any day flying is a good day; have a great one!
Rev kites: fly it, you'll like it!

The 6 person room was around $150/night. So divide that by the number of people we stick in there.
I can drive a van which holds 6 people comfortably.
Tentatively, we'd leave on Thursday and return on Tuesday.

Too bad. I would have liked to fly in NJ but can't see traveling so far when there is a nice fest in my own backyard.

In talking to folks it seems like getting vacation time is hard, so....
We'll have to postpone the Wildwood trip for another year.

You might see us IF you (Rich) would attend the Family Kite Festival in Milwaukee (same dates) as you promised!
Not that I really expected (or wanted) you to show! :rotfl
