Our reservations are in for Friday through Monday. Do call directly and mention the $79 rate ... that rate isn't on the reservation desk's listing yet. That's a great deal ... the best I could come up with otherwise was $117 for a standard room.

Cheers,
Tom

a note from our host, Chow Chong:

Hi,
One more week to a fun weekend of kite flying and camaraderie! Just want to make you aware that when you are coming in to town from I-43 or Hwy. 10, please DO NOT take the usual exit, Hwy. 310, into Two Rivers. Repeat - DO NOT TAKE HWY. 310. The road is under construction and they are putting 3 roundabouts to replace the 3 intersections. The detours are long and out of the way.

If you are northbound (from Milwaukee/Chicago) on I-43, exit on Hwy. 42/Waldo Blvd and go east to Maritime Drive (Hwy. 42 North) to Two Rivers.

If you are southbound (from Green Bay) on I-43, take the Hwy. 147 exit into Mishicot and then to Two Rivers.

For those of you from the Fox Cities and western part of the state, I suggest using Hwy. 41 to Green Bay and then I-43 South to Hwy. 147 to TR. It is just a little longer in distance but faster in travel time because it is freeway most of the way.

The Holiday Inn is on Calumet Avenue just off I-43.

If any of you are interested in some TV time, I have Channel 5 (CBS) coming in next Thursday from 4.30 am to 7.00 am shooting 4 segments as a part of the promo for KOLM. I would appreciate any interest and help on this. I promise coffee, pots and pots! Also, Channel 11 (Fox News) will be here on Saturday 9/5 from 6 am to 8 am to do a couple of segments on the event. Hope to see some of you early birds out that day too.

If there are any changes, I will update you all. Thanks and have a great weekend.

Unfortunately, I wont be able to be there this weekend. My dad took ill on Saturday and I'm in California, spending my days sitting in a hospital and not flying kites on the beach. Seems wrong for California.

Ken will be the Captain for 180GO!, so everyone go and cheer him on. He did a great job last year.

Two Rivers is in Wisconsin isn't it??? Taverns and liquor stores are like Walgreens and CVS pharmacies are everywhere else. No need for directions, just stagger a block or so in any direction. When I was in college in Michigan, the drinking age in Wisconsin was 18 ... I have some fond memories of Hurley, Wisconsin!!

Yes, I know I'll pay for this posting ... sorry ...

Plan on leaving mid-morning tomorrow ... anyone else showing up tomorrow evening?

Cheers,
Tom

Two Rivers is the legendary home of the ice cream sunday. A _most_ important thing/place to know about this weekend. Who's up for ice cream?

Well, the beach is beautiful for a kite festival. Looks like the tents are up and ready for tomorrow. Put on a one-man kite festival about 6:00 pm ... winds were 2 mph gusting to 2.2 mph. You guys are right ... they love kite fliers in this town. And older couple clapped for me as I was packing up to leave. At least I think they were clapping for my flying and not for the fact that I was getting off their beach ... hmmm.

Looks like the winds will be light for the weekend ... forecast is currently for six to seven mph both days.

Cheers,
Tom
