2009: Chicago Kids & Kites, Montrose Harbor, May 2

Postby Jeff » Tue, Apr 28 2009, 11:24 AM

Just wondering if anybody was planning on going to this one. It's right before a really busy run of weekends, so it doesn't look like we'll have the 180 GO! regulars, but for anybody that's nearby, or forum lurkers that might be interested, head on over. It's still a good chance to be with other kiters and have a good time.

It's still early, but the weather forecast looks promising too.

I can't make it this year, but I've enjoyed this festival.

It can get very crowded with kids flying their home made kites, so you have to be flexible about having space to fly your own kite. It's not a big problem, but there will be the occasional person walking through your lines. If you can deal with that in a cheerful manner, you can have fun here.

Personally, I liked seeing all the happy kids and interacting with the crowd.

I'm going to be taking a peek at the Galesburg festival. After all, it's almost in my back yard ...

Cheers,
Tom

talked with my brother yesterday and he said it was amazing to see the stuff flying.
He was describing some of the things which was pretty neat to hear from a non-kitehead.
My favorite was "this cone thing that had like black teeth in the front and ribbons hanging off the back".

it was his first fest.
perhaps next year :P
