We need single line kites to decorate the sky.

Holy cow, an IL kiting event which actually falls on a non-work weekend!! Unfortunately, there are no less than THREE kite festivals / fun flys being held in central Wisconsin on April 25-26. Therefore, this kiter will be staying "in state". Hope ya'll have a great event though! :)

Hey fellow cheese-head... How about getting the Wisconsin Kite festivals, you know of, on the calendar?

Sure would be appreciated! Or I'll be forced to abscond to IL... :thanks:

Will do... Might be a few days before I get that done though, as I don't have complete details on these events handy. By the way, how does one post events on here??? Email the info st8 to Mike Kory?

PS: are there any other "Cheese Heads who belong to IKE???"

The calendar is for events where we can expect attendance by at least a few IKE members.
If there's one that Jeff and Jynx will be at, we'll stick it on. Just email me or Jeff with a link for more info or a press release.

Yeah, it's no problem, Jeff. Either Mike or I can do that. PM or email.
Keep calm, and park it in the pocket

IKE is on Image too!

Do you have some interesting single line kites you'd like to fly at this festival?
Maybe you have only a couple, but you're willing to watch over some of my single lines too?
We need to decorate the sky!

I can get a hotel room for Saturday night, possibly Friday night too, for someone who wants to put up a bunch of single kites on Saturday and Sunday.

Hey guys...I am really interested to fly fighter kites and be part of any kite flying activities.
I just read about this festival at decatur and I live in springfield,il so i will try to make it.
I live to fly fighter kites and cutting lines with others but I don't have fighter kites though :-(.....

How many people attend this festival and what to expect ?

Thanks in advance,
Dhiren

i'll be there Saturday morning and will stay overnight until later Sunday.

Dhiren... The amount of people showing up will depend on the weather and various other factors. Usually quite a few show up.

Some of the guys will probably have large fighter kites that you can try... and there may well be a fighter kite event mixed in.

i don't fly fighter kites, but there are a lot of various kites that should be knocked out of the sky.

Actually, we don't fly traditional fighter kites.
We do fly Japanese style Rokkakus and battle with them sometimes, but in America, there's very little of the traditional Indian/Afghanistan fighter kite flying.
Flying lots of kites on a 1000' of glass coated line isn't done in this country. It's considered too dangerous.

But there's a lot more to flying kites than fighting. I encourage you to come on down and see what is done with modern kites The tricks that can be done with kites with two strings attached them and the control of a kite with 4 strings is something to see.
Someone will be sure to let you try one of these kites too.
