Well, Kite Party for us is over and done with... much to our distress... It was a great time... a GREAT TIME! and we were all treated like one of the family by everyone here... We made a lot of new friends and it was great to meet some of those whom we only knew through posts....

I was especially happy to meet Hector, the Fosters, Lolly and above all, Kent Kingston who is completely and totally responsible for me being in the sport altogether... Sorry Kent, I will never let you forget it...lol

Will post pictures on Tuesday and we are out of here tomorrow so that we can get home in time for the snow....

They really did make the IKE family feel welcome out there. They kept announcing our club during the festival and even at the dinner. My thanks to Dave Shenkman for all he does for kiters.
It was an awesome time. They got one quote right in the newspaper interview: this [strike]festival[/strike] party really is on the top of my list.

By the way, in the photo of IKE members, Roxy is missing. She was there on Saturday though!

Better than ever.

That's what it was.

Thanks all you IKEheads for allowing this kitehead to be a part of the gang.

I have a bunch of photos of folks flying that will be up soon. I have some video but that will take a while. I've only done a very little bit of video editing on the computer in the past.

Hector, I'm looking forward to seeing that bit of video with the BadBoy. There is very little film of me flying and none of me flying well, so maybe you cought me on a roll with one of my favorite kites. Or, maybe I look like a doof. :-)

Man, that was fun. It was so good to finally meet the members of our "western branch," and all the other kiters that made it a fun party.

Flying the mega-flies (actually, 10 or 12 kites hardly feels like a megafly anymore 8) ) was just awesome. I really think I came away from the party with some improvements in my team flying.

Staying in the air while iQuad was bull-rushing us to the left was an accomplishment for us novices.

Thanks for a great party, Dave!

Man, I wish this party was a week long. Not that I could take that much time off, but I can dream. ;-)

I've already added next year's dates to the IKE online calendar.

I'm trying to get home...our plane pushed back on time, taxied out onto the tarmac, and then the pilot came on and said our takeoff has been delayed...for 55 minutes. So we have to sit here on the plane more than an hour before taking off...and the weather is supposed to be getting worse by the hour back home...ugh.

I have a few sets of photos from KP6.

The first up is a bunch of shots of folks flying team quad. I got a kick out of watching people fly. As a new quad flyer it was really helpful to watch hands and body language. No surprise there's a bunch of pictures of that kind of thing. Also great to see how much fun folks are having. :-)

Also lots of shots of Revs head on. Just because. 8)

More to come on other subjects later.

p.s. I uploaded full res files, so they may be slow to load. It's nice to zoom in and see faces and stuff.

Well, Ken and I made it home without problem. Our flight took off on time and we got in about 30 mins later than expected because of the weather... the pilot came in kind of hot and a bit long at Midway... I've never been on a flight that put on the amount and length of reverse thrust that he did...lol... everyone clapped when we finally stopped..

The ride home from the airport, on the other hand.... SUCKED!!!!! Going from 70 and sunny to 30 and 4" of snow here in Aurora messes with your mind just a bit...

It was a great time though... looking forward to doing it again...

There are aspects of both that I like...I am actually using both at the moment trying to decide once and for all which I like better. I'm putting up my Kite Party photos in both places to see how it organizes...

Here's my Picasa album.

I did find it easier to upload using the Picasa client. Flickr appears to not allow enough space to upload all my pics unless I compress them quite a bit. It's more work.

One bit of advice if you use Picasa...tag the pictures before uploading to the web album. You cannot batch tag photos.

You and Ken were lucky to have only 30 a min. delay. It had been snowing most of the
afternoon in Chicago.

I made it out of LA as planned but then had a three hour delay in Kansas City. Home by
6:30.

Had an awesome time. One of the best [strike]Kite Partys[/strike] Rev Partys ever.

Now to clean out all of this sand.
