Thanks for the post, Chris. In the 90s Lynn and I were in Northern California, busy with our own lives and were not aware of what was going on with the Huntington Beach pier.

Sometimes it takes a "tourist" to search out the facts for the "locals".

Hello Everyone,
Posting a quick reply to let everyone know that the Stephenson's made it home at 3 AM this morning. Had to drive through a snowstorm. What a shock from white sand to white snow. I think prefer sand....LOL.

Love all the pics everyone has posted. Had to work today, so no chance to post any we've taken, but will get to it eventually.

We really had a wonderful time and it was really nice to meet everyone. Can't wait to get together again. I hope Spring is close...does anyone know if the groundhog saw his shadow?

LOL.

Well take care everyone.

The Stephenson's

Yes, the video is a great addition to all that IKE is... Thanks Jeff.. I would be fantastic to have one of these every year that IKE exists... I wish we had video from IKE's conception in Naperville...

On the history... I am an incredible history buff... I am always interested in the history of the areas I go to and where I live.

Man what an AWESOME TIME the whole weekend was!!! :wohow: :guns:
Job well done Dave!!

For those who were not able to make it this year, YOU HAVE to plan for KP-08!!!!!!
We all had such a WARM welcome from EVERYBODY!!!! Even if it was ONLY 60 degrees out all weekend?!
I made sure to have the locals dropping their jaws and shivering, with me sporting my shorts and IKE custom tank top.

Was great to put more faces with all those screen names we see at this and other forums. Was a sure pleasure meeting Lynn & Jim, Hector, and Allen. Looking forward to seeing you all out this way some time, even if we have to wait till summertime, when its warm enough for you thin blooded kiters. :P

Already counting the day till next year!!

Will post my pictures up in the next day or two.
May Ol Ma Nature never hold her
breath on you.

I was so hoping to meet you Hector. I have a rare medical condition which they are trying to figure out if it's Cowden's or Dercum's with thousands of lipomas / angilopomas in my body that are connected to the blood vessels. When it is chilly / cold out they constrict causing a great deal of pain. I only lasted about 2 hours there and had to leave promptly. People ask me why this hobby with my medical issues, I love it, (If I could actually get a kite up I'm sure I would love it more!) just hard to get out there with good weather. I'm sorry I didn't get to say goodbye to anyone and hello to a lot.

The little bit I saw was amazing! I wish I saw your Red Barron.

I'm going back to CA in a few months to see the Dr there and maybe we can hook up with warmer weather.

I like how you can figure out who is flying by their silhouette. (it's easier if you click on the photo and see it full-size)

I've just been catching up on the other forums.
IKE rocked HB!

We were introduced at every gathering, we were announced many times throughout the day, and now looking at the forums and photos...we rocked!

Congrats to all!

Of the kite or the person? :-D

It's easy looking at the kites.

I had my sail on correctly, so that must be Friday. :P

Well, the tall one is you and the short one is me. The one wearing a hat that isn't a ball-cap (and in shorts) is Ken, the hoodie standing with attitude is Nick, the big guy is Mike. I guess Chris doesn't have a distinctive silhouette but he's the only one left!

And hey, you were the only guy flying a niotuloveR on Sunday!

Oh yeah.

Red shirts rule.

You guys and gals embody the KP ethic. The original KP catch phrase was "Shut Up And Fly" which I took to mean, leave your baggage home and just have fun. No egos, none of the F word stuff. Just people hanging out having a good time with kites and eachother. IKE has that wired. :-D

The IKE presence is just what KP needs to stay grounded. We also need the sheer numbers! KP would have seemed poorly attended without IKE.

Rock On.
