(your welcome Draftnik )

C'yall there bright 'n early on the 5th!!!

Make sure you bring a kite or two for Christy's "Show & Tell" session!

If there's time enough to throw it together (took Draftnik, Banshee, and I a couple of hours last time), I'll be showing my crown kite "Swanson's Kaleidoscope". Some of you may remember it from the forums at KiteBuilder.com. Jim Swanson recently won the title of "Kite Builder of the Year" for this particular cellular piece. So far, I've only had it out on display once...at OSOW down in Madison last year. Unfortunately, it was way too windy to attempt flying it. Perhaps we'll get to take it out on it's maiden flight at Dekalb next weekend! :))

That's the Chambers site for the kite festival. Is there some specific info you're looking for?

Well once again Ol' Ma Nature tried real hard to not let this fest get off the ground!! But Issac once again sacrificed him self to the wind gods. With in a half hour of his departure they smiled and she blew her hot air. Issac you REALLY need to start sticking it out longer!! I dont think you have that much pull with nature.

It was rainy for thew most part of the morning. With really light to no winds for the most part. 180Go! did the best they could with those conditions along with some of the dual lines. But the winds feel off and the rain moved in. Hats off to Nathan and his friend for trying to entertain the crowds with their tails on poles routine.

Shawn's spin sock was very impressive to see. Really wowed the crowd with it. But it also was drenched by time they had it rolled up and out of the rain. He too was worried about not being able to dry it out.

But the sun finally came back out and the winds really picked up and once again the fest was back on. Most of the crowds had faded away, but a good part DID come back to watch all that was going on. 180Go was able to do a few demos. It was only a three man team but we still did well. Chris R. it was great to see you and able to have you fly with 180Go!. Dave Z. and Jim did a two man demo with their widow dual line kites. Jeff, Chris R., Nathan, plus a few others that their names slip my mind all did a solo or team demos.

All that were involved with keeping the fest a float with the rain date were VERY PLEASED with all the shows from everybody. They are also looking forward to doing it all again next year!! 8)

The segment regarding the Kite Fest begins about 3 1/2 minutes in. There is a segment about Huskies on Parade before that.

The local paper links are here:

All in all it was a good day. All the ripstop went home dry and that was something to be grateful for! Everyone did a great job working hard to keep things going when the weather was bent to do otherwise. The last hour or so we had nice flying conditions and everyone hopped to get stuff in the air (and dried out!).

Thanks so much everyone. And Issac (who left and took the rain with him) a BIG thanks!
