2008: June 15, PairieFest at Oswego,IL

Postby Mike » Wed, May 14 2008, 09:50 AM

June 15, 2008
Oswego, IL

PraireFest is a free musical festival in Oswego. The festival actually runs from June 12-15.
There will be a carnival, bands, great food, Beer Trucks, Fireworks, etc, from Thursday to Sunday. The bands play throughout the day.

180GO! has been invited to fly on the 15th from 10 to 3.

We'll be flying in the same area we flew at the Oswego festival earlier this year.
It sounds like there will be room for other fliers, SLKs or duals, in the same area we will be flying.
Isaac will be bringing his sound system.

The festival area will be snow-fenced off. The kiting area will not be roped off. I don't expect other kite fliers, but watch for errant pedestrians!

At 4 o'clock, the flying area becomes overflow parking!

I'll be there. I just blocked out that date at church.

Rose took a couple photos. Anyone else have pictures?
It was a great time. I was able to put up SLKs and just leave them in the air for the whole day unattended--even the guitar kite which is a kite killer and flops all over the sky. :-)

180GO! looked great!
The pic only shows 4, but we had 7 fliers: Me, Nick, Rose, Babb, Jeff, Isaac and Ken.

It was a very fun and relaxing day of flying. We had small groups of people stopping by on the way in or out of the Prairie fest as well as inside of the fest along the fence line watching all day long.

Well, yes...except for the part where we had to run in terror from the apocalyptic storm that blasted through.

But after that storm we had the best winds we've had all season. Really smooth. I'm glad we hung around after the storm.

I just wish the storm had happened earlier so we could have spent more time with that wind.
