Grinell. Dang, I have to miss it this year!

Wedding in the family. VERY inconsiderate of them to schedule a wedding on the day I wanted to be in Grinell!

I asked them to reschedule the wedding, but no deal.

Well dang indeed. Maybe they could move the wedding to Grinnell? We could make a nice kite arch for them to stand under while exchanging their vows :-)

You make jest, but I think that would make a Beautiful wedding...

Wonder if you could schedule the wedding with a rain date.

Of course Chris and lots more are going to compete! Now, don't get all freaked out that it's a competition, and say, I'll be judged, I'm not going to Nationals, I can't do this!!!
We are thinking of this as a dress rehearsal for next year, both for competitors and crew. This is the absolute first and I think only indoor competition held in the Midwest or Central conference.
Next year the AKA convention is in Rochester MN, you are going??? Every competitor that finishes in the top 5 places in their conference gets an invite to nationals.
Routine is from 2 to 4 minutes long. Music is great, but not required. Look at the AKA rule book, under the appendix, page 12. This is Indoor Unlimited. This is time to push the envelope and try new things.
You can use mulitple kites, multiple types of kites, have helpers. The only thing fixed is don't fly over the hard boundry and threaten the audience.
The goals here are to put on a great show for the people of Grinnell that come out year after year to support, and have allowed the festival to grow and improve every year; to give the few that want to compete at Nationals a chance to do that without so much travel; and to open up the possibilities for next year, when you will want to have a shot at nationals.
Yes, competition is scary. However, competing is the best way to improve.
See you at Grinnell. How will I ever be ready in time? No more crises allowed!

Hi Ken,
the field is a big park, so you'll be able to fly on Friday.
My family will be there in time for pizza at 6, but I don't know how much earlier we'll be there. It's hard to coordinate times with 4 people.
If I can manage it, I'd like to fly on Friday too.

A reminder:
Anyone with lights, bring 'em for the night fly.

Since we're staying over Saturday night, if anyone wants to fly on Sunday morning, we might be able work something out.

I'll be there!

I have all day off of on Friday, also. Not sure when I'll be getting there yet, but will leave here sometime in the morning.

I will have to depart seriously early on Sunday morning, though.
