Yes there was a lot of problems with the big kites, perhaps they would consider moving back to the field were the event was held for the last 10 years or so.

That's great news!

Will there be food available? Or should we bring our own lunch?

Tony, what problems did you have last year? They probably want it in the same field as last year because that's where the recycling center is.
If it's in the same field, is there something we can do to make it better?

Ok, who's doing the night fly?
I may not because I've got a 3 hour drive home, getting me home after midnight. That's past my bedtime

But if lots of people are going to do it, I just may hit a Starbucks and tank up on caffeine for the drive home.

If there is wind, I'll do it...

Who's supplying the kite lights?!

Let me see if I'm "free" to do that.

If we do...I've been thinking about doing some kite light experimenting... Hmmm.

Just a reminder that this fest is coming up.

It's a pretty low key festival, they don't mention IKE or 180GO! on the web. The organizers probably don't even know who we are.
If I remember correctly, last year, fields weren't roped off and there wasn't a sound system.
I also don't remember food being available, so you may want to plan ahead on that.

If you think of it more like a club fly with an audience, then you'll get the picture.
It's still fun, and I'm driving 3 hours to be there. I plan on being there by 10am.

For those of you who haven't made it out to a festival or club fly yet, try to make it to this one--it's kinda like both!
I hope to see lots of you out there.

Yes, there wasn't a sound system and things weren't roped off! It was pretty much like a massive club fly! Like i had mentioned, even people with baby carriages were ignoring my pleas to not walk under my sport kite! (Hey, it's just a kite... what can a mere kite do that is harmful?... right?!) But it was a great flying area and was a lot of fun!

i have some finger lights that i can bring (though i'm not sure i'll stay that late)... and i may try to order more lights prior to the event (possibly for this and definitely for upcoming events).

There wasn't a lot of food to purchase... and even drinks were rather difficult to locate and purchase.

I will also be there in the morning round 10. I have not been able to check my radio out from the rain. So I dont know if it will work. If some one else who will be there has a boom box with RCA plug ins on it please bring and I will have my jukebox. I thing there might have been a food trailer down beyond the soccer fields. Very basic food.

I also dont know if I will hang for the night fly. Hope the weather was like last year too. Good winds and sunny, just not quite as warm.

Ken: Isaac said he'll bring his sound system. Cool!
Tom: I wish they would rope off an area, but because this is a Chicago Kite event, he doesn't want me to talk to the organizers directly. Nothing we can do.

i'm sure that you two will be first-rate parents... (and will keep him safe, away from the evil side of the force)! :revspin:

Ha!

If I can get the Wazo up in the air, Michale will have the option of being a 3 line filer and put you all to shame!

Actually, in Chillicothe he got to pilot the Thunderfoil (with assistance) so I guess he cut his teeth on 2 lines. Next year we'll get him a sewing machine and he can help make stars for our train.
My new motto:

Up the Wazo!

The info says the kite fly is from noon to 3pm. Are we starting earlier? Going later?
