To think...last year at Oswego, I only had a dualie. Now I've got more Revs than I can shake a spar at.

Dunno. A quick perusal of their web pages said they were allowed on park district walking trails but didn't say anything about parks.

Yeah, I'll have to give them a call.

There may be an occasion when I'll have to bring our dog Cookie.

Great looking dog! 8) With those kind of ears... looks like i can bridle her up and fly her! :mrblue:

(It would be nice if Oswego could have a section for club members only or something of that sort; if i remember correctly, this was one of the fests where people - some even with baby carriages - were walking right under my kite... even though i yelled out plenty of warning cries!)

Ah yes...the start of the path...showed I could at least keep the thin in the air for a few minutes at a time...but I recall at the end of the day at Oswego when we moved across the street and kept flying for a while after the fest. Picked up Mike's kite again and he showed me a vertical hover, and I was able to hold it pretty still. I knew then that I was doomed.

Can we fly until dark or do they plan to kick us off the main flying field at 3 pm again?

No answer from Dave, but here's what it says at Oswego's site:

Earth Day Kite Fly
The community is coming together to celebrate this planet!

* Saturday, April 19
* PrairieFest Park
* 8:00am-12:00pm, Restoration Work Day
* 10:00am-3:00pm, Recycling Extravaganza
* 12:00-3:00pm, Earth Day Kite Fly
* 7:30-9:00pm, Night Kite Fly

Kinda sounds like we would have to find somewhere to hang out from 3 to 7:30!
Also, the kite fly is only scheduled from 12-3.

well, that area is still pretty open and if we can't fly in the field we start in, we can find another place to fly until later in the day...

Or we can all hang out in a nice sushi bar...lol

here's a map of the area... I can't believe that all the fields in the area will be in use after 3pm... if nothing else, the areas under construction are still pretty open for those willing to brave mud and rock..

Some of that construction is done...I remember being adjacent to the building on the east side of the field last year when we moved off the main field. The aerial photo at live.com is a bit more recent...

But still, there's lots of empty space very near by.

It's easy for sportkiters to move, but it's hard for the big kites and SLKs to move.
Maybe we can find a space for the big stuff that wont have to move.

Unfortunately, I had to leave at 2pm last year and missed all the fun of the end of the festival, but if I remember correctly, weren't there some issues with getting the big kites down before the soccer fields were being painted, etc?

This is something that we should definitely work out with the event people before hand this year if possible. If it's not possible to get the soccer people to wait for us to tear down, then we will have to coordinate the tear down to start earlier... that's doesn't leave all that much time to fly, does it?

Dave Z... can we bring last years issues up with the promoters in order to help alleviate them for this year? Does the festival really end at 3pm or is that the time that we have to be completely off the field?
