2008 Treasure Island - Jan 18-20 - Treasure Island, FL

Postby Mike » Wed, Jan 09 2008, 09:02 PM

I started this thread for a place to post photos for when we get back.

With the addition of Isaac and the Stephensons, the mega fly is now up to 40 fliers!

I think a good idea would be for iQuad members, and Nick and Issac to be spaced along the line. If each of us has a radio we can repeat commands and lead a small team of 4 within the whole mega quad experience. Nick and Isaac know the basic calls and in this way we can explain what's going on and may be able to do more than previous mega-flies.

Just simple stuff like forming a bunch of vertical lines or maybe a ball or box or something. Nick, you'll get to tell your parents what to do!

You mean like a platoon. Cool, I can do way more damage with a group of four.

Is this another annual fest like KP? So that I could plan for 09'? :bash:

p.s. Nice new avatar Mike. and peppering the mega fly with radios would be an excellent idea. John can yell pretty good, but down the line of 40 fliers? I dont think so.

It's my first time flying there, I dunno if it will be as big a quad deal next year. One of the organizers is an alternate member of iQuad, so... probably?

that avatar is from a photo in San Diego. Someone in the club once complained I looked too stern in the old avatar, so I guess its about time I got around to replacing it.

I just go back this afternoon, the return flight was delayed for day due to ice in Chicago.
I had a blast, especially on Monday. The wind was blowing over the water the whole day. We spent all our practice time over the water. We did normal moves as well as a bunch of team dives: full submersions, then a 180 under water to rise up with water splashing off 8 kites simultaneously. There wasn't much in the way of waves which made it easier for us than when Hector did it in California.

We're gonna have to work hard to drum up the fliers to beat the new record of 29 fliers!
Give Treasure Island a couple days to gloat and then start drumming up some excitement over at GWTW.

I think a group of 29 Revs should be called a "chaos" of Revs. :-D

I'm hoping in H.B. we can do something more organized. There will be lots of people there with some experience in team flying and some who will just have had lessons on Friday.
