Kite Stakes

Postby Mike » Mon, Apr 21 2008, 02:32 PM

I like short stakes that fit in my pocket easily. 6" fiberglass stakes are light and work fine in anything other than sand. In sand, you can just bury the handles anyway.

Y'all may like the heavier duty golf ball / stainless steel stakes. That's groovy, use whatever stakes you want. But if you'd like a shorty, these will be in the team bag in Grinnell:

I hope nobody mistakes them for Tootsie Pops, or we'll have some broken teeth.

But we need to start thinking about our selfs now too. What can we do to help make us stand out in the crowds when walking around? The balloons on sunglasses out in Cin. was ok but not flashy or loud enough.

Anybody got any ideas?

I'd like to keep the IKE connection strongly there.
Red shirts, big IKE on the back...

If you want to wear yellow pants / shoes / hat / whatever, that's all cool.

Adding 180GO! to our current IKE t-shirt design in some way would be good too. Maybe lose the web address and put 180GO! on there?
Maybe embroidering 180GO! on the front?
Maybe ...?

If I remember right, Rizzuto came up with the current t-shirt design.
Any new ideas, Chris?

Keep the shirts as they are and maybe add the 180 go logo to the sleeve?

Or, just get 180 Go shirts. that have the IKE logo on the back...

more thoughts later.

I don't think a big change needs to be made as far as the IKE shirts. I like having the web address on there, as it shows at a glance that we have a web presence without having to tell people directly.

I'm not sure what to do to bring 180GO! into it...Adding a logo to the existing shirt? A whole different team shirt?

The thing about the 180GO! logo, I kind of like it best against a white background. I think a team shirt would be better in white, maybe light gray. It's also more neutral if we wanted to have a different accent color on each shirt relating to kite color.

I understand what you're saying Jeff, but 180GO! is a large segment of the club membership at any given festival. If 180GO isn't wearing a red shirt there's that many fewer red shirts on the field.
If there's some way to keep a similar look and color for the team shirt, that would be best.

Yeah, that's why I wasn't completely sure about how to handle that.

The simplest solution might just be an accessory like a hat with the team logo.

I say let's get new red shirts with a 180 Go Logo on the sleeve or the other front side where it is blank.

I suggest that we get white shirts and 180 Go! the crap out of them for when we are flying. We can change back and forth as necessary. or pick something that is easy to pull over our red t-shirts. Regardless, we need to make 180 Go stand out if we are going to be featured anywhere.

IQuad stands out in the crowds because of their clothing, we should also.

I realize that the number of red shirts out there will be less, but that just means we need more members wearing red shirts!

BTW, love the stakes... I hate carrying a golfball stake in my pocket...
