a Semi Annual Retreat?
Re: a Semi Annual Retreat?
If enough folks want to do it again, we can do another retreat in April or May.
We'll just have to look at the kite festival calendar and pick a date.

Re: a Semi Annual Retreat?
I'm in favor. The Shipshewana, Ind. kite fest is always the last Saturday in April. That's April 30 in 2016. I'd want the retreat to avoid that weekend.

I assume that some of the festival dates for next year are not firm yet. As well as the 180Go schedule. So we would probably have to wait a while before coming up with a weekend day.

You might be right. I'm pretty sure April 30 is firm for Shipshewana (it's always the last Saturday in April) but I haven't heard yet whether all the sponsors have come through.
I have an email into PIGS Aloft to see if they have any April festival dates yet (last Spring, they were saying that they might have two festivals in the Cincy area in the spring of 2016 ... I was the announcer at one last April at Voice of America Park).

Re: a Semi Annual Retreat?
Last year, 180GO! had a fest every weekend in April and May except for the first weekend of April. But early April can be dicey for weather.

Just got word from Debbie that Cincy's "Kites 'n MPX" 2016 will be April 9, from noon to 5 p.m.

A few of us did March 28 along the Chicago lake shore this year. Yeah cold. But I think it was a colder than normal winter.

Re: a Semi Annual Retreat?
I would love to have a semiannual retreat. Knowing that you guys are busy in the Spring, it'd be subject to your schedule. Maybe if we can pick a couple of weekends as options depending on how the festival schedule shapes up. Also, we could firm up the weekend for next years September retreat.
Bonum vinum laetificat cor hominis
Re: a Semi Annual Retreat?
Reviving this topic. Maybe a one day thing at the Dunes or somewhere else? A Saturday? Looking at the IKE Google calendar it appears that March 26 and April 2 are open.
(No clue what the 180Go group is up to. No 2016 schedule showing yet.)

I should put up a few dates on our web page.
But both the dates you mentioned are open. Weather can still be cold, even snow then. So I'd go for the later, April 2nd date.
I'd call a one day event a club fly though.

Cold? We laughed at cold last March.
I think we should aim for a one day deal on April 2.

Re: a Semi Annual Retreat?
A one day deal will most likely only appeal to folks who are somewhat local. Probably won't see anyone from WI or MI for example.
Even I would be somewhat iffy, given that it's a 7 hour round-trip drive.

I get what you're you're saying about the "retreat" moniker.
Maybe a one day Spring Tune Up.

Bill, we can still do a day at the beech this Spring. The cold won't bother me.
