Rain? At this point I'll do a dance for rain. I would gladly fly in a storm. Maybe I can get a powdered wig and do my best impression of Ben Franklin.

Being consecutive weeks with the Quad Cities event, I'd likely have to pick one or the other. I'd probably be inclined to just do the festival. If I can swing it, I may be able to come for one day, but there's no promises on that...

Is the Quad-Cities Fest a "GO" for sure?

Would you like me to extend an invitation to the Hoosier Kiteflier's Society? Or, if it would be better coming from Mike, I can provide an email address for Angie Chau of HKS (if you don't already have it). She routinely relays to the HKS events planned by PIGS Aloft in Cincy.

It's all good fun. Playing on the beach, hanging out, and then doing it again the next day!
This could grow into a Midwest Kite Party some day...

Please do extend the invitation!
Extend it to the PIGS too!

I am already requesting some space for SLK's. Maybe loft a sled or a ghost and some laundry. I have to get crackin making some new stakes. I hope we can get some other large pieces up in the air.

For large SLKs on the beach, a sand anchor is better than stakes. I would like to put up my large delta as well.

It's a big beach, there should be plenty of room for all sorts of kites.
I'll be bringing some SLKs too. Maybe some fighter kites. And Roks--if the wind is blowing away from the lake we can have rok battles too.

HKS just sent the following message to its members:

Greetings!

I just received word that IKE (Illinois Kite Enthusiasts) are planning a two-day fun fly event at Indiana Dunes on Sep. 29-30. For more information, click on this link:
http://www.ikeclub.org/Forums/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=2069
To quote the forum's post: "All sorts of kites are welcome and encouraged: dualies, quads and SLKs to fill the sky!"

A tentative courtesy listing on the HKS website calendar has been posted. As more info trickles in, it will be updated.

Stay cool!
Angie

Yeah Baby! Let's make it visible form the Space Station.

Sorry. Got a little excited there.

I put it on the Prism forum too. I could use some dualie help. I know of two people specifically who live in the region.

Mikey -

Thanks for posting that up over on KL. I told Mike K. that I'd post on some other forums . . . and then I got busy with work and didn't get it done. So . . . I have plagiarized your posting and put it over on GWTW. Here's the link to GWTW

Thanks for writing it up!

BTW, maybe one of the mods can go put an event over on the IKE facebook page? Also, maybe update the IKE club calendar and/or the festivals page (although I know this is NOT a festival).

Now we need to pick a hotel. Last year we stayed at the Best Western in Portage which was fine, but it wasn't all that close and there wasn't much nearby. It did have an abundance of ETAs though.

Here's the trip advisor page for hotels in the area: http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotels-g3700 ... otels.html
There's the Best Western Indian Oak that is closer and Hilton which gets good reviews but isn't as close.

Discuss!

(I"m preparing for incoming relatives and a wedding, but I'll still keep an eye on the forum)
