Article in Kitelife? or AKA magazine?

Hello there, writers.

I didn't take English 101 until my senior year of college. Really! I kept hoping they would change the requirements and I wouldn't have to take it. So anyway, I'm a writing-phobe and not really suited for this.

However, we have lots of photos from our past year and it would be cool if someone put together an article about our club for the online-magazine Kitelife or for the print AKA magazine, Kiting.

The submission guidelines for Kitelife (next deadline is March 20):
http://www.kitelife.com/site_faq/index. ... show&cat=8

The submission guidelines for the AKA magazine (next deadline is April 15):
http://aka.kite.org/publications.shtml#kiting

Any takers? I would appreciate a copy of the article being sent to me before submitting for publication. I'll run it by several members of the club and my wife, the English Professor. Final decision on any changes (if any) would still be the prerogative of the writer. After all, it will be your name that appears in print.

You know, I was thinking about something like this...although for inclusion in something else. I don't know that I'm suited to write it, though, assuming it needs to touch on the history and origins of the club. Maybe several of us could take a stab at it. Write any section or paragraph that you think would be good in an article, post it here, and somebody could be the "editor" and put it all together...? Or at least throw out the bullet points to touch on.

I suppose I'll start writing... whatever I come up with will be witty and filled with expletives and fibs... then we can edit it down...lol

We don't have much in the way of history really though... I suppose we could touch the history and then talk about our 1st year and what has grown out of it... as a story 'to be continued'?

This is good though, I've been wanting to do some writing for Kitekife...

For a magazine, I think we need to keep it short and fun.
Many of those topics would be great to have and would be perfect for a history page in our Wiki.

A bit of history is buried in this thread:

And check out Steve's photos from the Quad Party II:

There was mistake in that history post that nobody had noticed until today. Even though it was posted in November of 2006. I guess nobody reads my long posts
Anyway, it's been fixed for history's sake.

My apologies to Chicago Kite
