The Way The Wind Blows

Most of us go with the flow. That is for sure! It is the easy way to go. Most of us are swayed by governmental and religious authorities and are mere conformists. Do you know anyone who isn't? To be a true nonconformist may mean going beyond standard notions of space and time, beyond the observer as separate from the observed.

from the rock group Rush, from their latest album entitled "Snakes & Arrows":

The Way the Wind Blows

Now it's come to this
It's like we're back in the Dark Ages
From the Middle East to the Middle West
It's a world of superstition

Now it's come to this
Wide-eyed armies of the faithful
From the Middle East to the Middle West
Pray, and pass the ammunition

So many people think that way
You gotta watch what you say
To them and them, and others too
Who don't seem to see things the way you do

We can only grow the way the wind blows
On a bare and weathered shore
We can only bow to the here and now
In our elemental war

We can only grow the way the wind blows

We can only bow to the here and now
Or be broken down blow by blow

Now it's come to this
Hollow speeches of mass deception
From the Middle East to the Middle West
Like crusaders in unholy alliance

Now it's come to this
Like we're back in the Dark Ages
From the Middle East to the Middle West
It's a plague that resists all science

It seems to leave them partly blind
And they leave no child behind
While evil spirits haunt their sleep
While shepherds bless and count their sheep

Like a solitary pine
On a bare wind-blasted shore
We can only grow the way the wind blows

Not bad. Lets bring back the Age of Enlightenment!
You still lose me though, when you talk of going beyond standard notions of space and time...

Sounds good!

Relate the following to the above lyrics.

Jesus said, "Why have you come out to the countryside? To see a reed shaken by the wind? And to see a person dressed in soft clothes, [like your] rulers and your powerful ones? They are dressed in soft clothes, and they cannot understand truth."

The above quote taken from the Gospel of Thomas from the book entitled "The Five Gospels... The Search for the Authentic Words of Jesus" (New Translation and Commentary by Robert W. Funk, Roy W. Hoover, and the Jesus Seminar)

Does it take much intelligence to know weather parameters in the field, but not understand the basics of the field of time?

*******************************************************************************

He would also say to the crowds, "When you see a cloud rising in the west, right away you say that it's going to rain; and so it does. And when the wind blows from the south, you say we're in for scorching heat; and we are. You phonies! You know the lay of the land and can read the face of the sky, so why don't you know how to interpret the present time?"
