*BETTER VIDEOS*

Postby Hector Herrera » Sun, Feb 18 2007, 10:16 PM

Hi fellows!
As you may have noticed allready, my uploaded videos are of poor quality, I've to admit it.
I'd like to know if anyone knows any easy, not too complicated suggestions, or solutions to this matter. ???
Just to inform you, I am using Video Maker, from Microsoft, and I feel that may be one problem.
I am using my new JVC mini DV camcorder, and when I look at the filming in my TV or Laptop it looks real good, but after the editing, it looses some quality, and it gets worst after uploading it to GOOGLE.

I will apreciate any help on this subject.
:thanks:

Hector, loss of quality is inevitable when you compress video. Depending on the settings you choose when you create the video file, you will either get a great looking file that is huge, or a file that is smaller that won't be quite as sharp. I'm not terribly familiar with the encoding options available in Movie Maker, but perhaps you could say what settings you use.

There's always a trade-off to think about...size vs. quality.

Now, you've got a second issue, and that's using an online host such as Google video. YouTube works the same way, but what happens is once you upload your video, Google encodes the file, again. They convert it to flash format, shrink it down, probably even change the frame rate. They do this to keep from using insane amounts of bandwidth. As a result, you get to put your video there for free, but at a cost of quality. The service is for easy sharing, not for high quality distribution. Even the best looking video will suffer somewhat on these services.

If you want to present a higher quality video, you will have to pay for some hosting space where you can upload a file that is less compressed in a format like Quicktime or Windows Media or something like that, but you have to pay for the bandwidth since you will be transferring larger files.
Keep calm, and park it in the pocket

IKE is on Image too!

Mike!!!
You are a genius... or almost...
I was all enthusiastic about the dually Emoticon...
But is not in the group that we can use for posting???
Do you mean that's just for your own personal use?
In any case, my admiration for you. (I can not do things like that)

I don't mean to be picky, but SLKs were first, by a millennia or two.

My impression was that he was saying that dual like kites were first, then Quads. I was not referring to the SLK emoticon (of an awfully small kite :-) ) but of SLKs themselves. I have to go back to getting packed for Berck now, The important stuff is packed, I just have to do laundry and pack some clothing.

i don't know how you do it, Al!

Butterflies were first... and they still fly better than any of us! :dualspin:

Pterodactyls went extinct... but one day so will we!... (not until we get some good flying in, i hope)!

Have a blast Al!
Someday I'll make it to Berck, somehow. Meanwhile, I'll have to live it thru your stories and photos.
Bon Voyage!

Thanks, I am all packed now. Now I just have to schlep it all through O'hare and the people sized habitrail
that is Charles DeGual Airport. Now that I am ready, I am impatiant to be gone, but I don't
leave until Thursday night.

As to pictures, I am planning on using an auto KAP rig off and on during the 10 days. I am taking 11 GBs
of SD cards as I have no space for the laptop to offload the cards.

The only problem is the best stuff falls under the exclusion of: "What happens on the road, stays on the road"

One ignores this "rule" at their own peril. There are probably worst stories about you that could be told.

Bending that rule, here are a couple of pictures from dinner in Berck 2000.
