Forum Software

Postby TheBigKiteGuy » Mon, Jan 15 2007, 01:14 AM

I have a need to set up a different forum. What particular variant of phpBB forum software did you use? It appears from a cursory look that a database is required, any particular complexity here? I have designed and administered multiple terabyte Oracle and Informix databases, but I have not played with the smaller databases that are supported by phpBB. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

this is phpbb XS which is nothing more than phpbb with a large number of hacks built in...

you can get it and support from this site:

you can run this with an access database which is how we started... but, I quickly discovered that it it inadequate for running a board. We have a godaddy hosting account that gives us 25 MySQL databases to use... we use 2... once for the board and one for a test board... hosting cost is about $7/month and included a domain name and associated hosting of it.
