I could use some short bio's to feed the dj about the kiters. You can pm me or respond to this thread. Here's one I did for KiteSlayer that might help. Everyone who's flying outa have one of these with their real names and locations kiting interests etc.

Could use one from the 'Quad Guys' too and one for IKE.

KiteSlayer-*****,IL. 6th Grader who's been flying revolution kites for 3 years, likes the control he has over the 4 line kites, also enjoys power kites

I slightly edited what John has over at the iQuad site. Feel free chop it down some more if you want.

Mike Kory
Champaign, IL USA
Mike's been flying sport kites for over 25 years and discovered Revolution kites 10 years ago. He also sews some of his own sport kites and a variety of single line kites. Mike is President and co-founder of the Illinois Kite Enthusiasts (IKE), and he's responsible for creating a manual on team flying to help more kite fliers enjoy the camaraderie of flying together.

OK, here's my attempt, I'm not very good at talking about myself

Chris has been flying Revolution kite for two years now. He started flying dual line kites at first, but was quickly introduced to what is affectionately known as the "Dark side" of stunt kites, the four line kite.
Chris also makes his own single line kites, a couple of which, can be seen today.

He has also been involved with local events, such as the LaGrange Kite Night, a kite making class at Mill Street Elementary School in Naperville, and Morotn Arboretum's opening of the children's garden.

Chris is also a co-founder of the Illinois Kite Enthusiasts, who are celebrating their one year anniversary this October. So talk to some of the folks in the red IKE shirts, and find out how to become a member!

Oh... I LOVE talking about myself... NOT

Chris Babb re-discovered kiting in April, 2006 and exclusively flies Revolution quad line kites. He also discovered a talent for making his own kites and an incredible desire to spread his passion by participating in festivals, competitions, demos and in teaching children about the joy and thrill of harnessing the wind. Chris is a co-founder of the Illinois Kite Enthusiasts (IKE) which was established in October, 2006 and can be found regularly flying in Aurora and Lisle in all types of wind and weather.

As for IKE... everyone chime in on this and lets get it good...lol... if you want to change anything, copy this into your post and change away.

The Illinois Kite Enthusiasts was founded in October, 2006 by a group of people who were seeking a way to spread their passion for kiting. In the first year of their existence, they have established a well known presence within the kiting world through their website/forums (www.ikeclub.org) and by attending festivals held throughout the Midwest and in California. There are currently over 100 members of the club and their ranks are steadily growing with fun, knowledgeable, skilled and enthusiastic fliers from across the country. Our members fly a large variety of kites that include single line, dual line, quad line, power and just about anything else that floats on the wind. We urge anyone with an interest in kiting to join with us and share in the incredible sport and fun that kiting has become.

Heres mine...

Ken Krueger
from Calumet City, IL.
Ken is also a co-founder of IKE. He has been flying kites for the last five years. Started out with a dual line kite for a very short time, had a chance to try a quad line Rev, and as they say the rest is history. He too enjoys sewing his own kites and other things like "Gus" the four foot spike ball and "Blue Eyed Betty" the eight foot spike ball.

Personally, I think it's a bit too long. But if you're going to list all the states, don't forget Iowa.

Nice work on these guys!

Mike,

Don't be afraid to pare it back down if you feel it's appropriate... I think Midwest pretty much covers for states and California was mentioned because it's not in the midwest...

I'm not exactly sure where this blurb will be used, but here is a shorter version for your consideration:

The Illinois Kite Enthusiasts (IKE) was founded in October 2006 by people who wanted to share their passion for kiting. In just one year, they have established a presence in the kiting world through their on-line forum and at festivals throughout the Midwest. There are currently over 100 members flying (and, in some cases, making) single line kites, dual line and quad line sport kites, power kites and anything else they can float on the wind. Anyone with an interest in kiting can share the sport and fun: talk to a club member wearing a red IKE shirt or visit the forum at www.ikeclub.org.

Alan Sparling is one of the most active giant kite fliers in the world, appearing at over twenty five events each year. He has been an invited guest at festivals on three continents. He has brought three 90 foot long show kites, (an octopus, a gecko and a trilobite), the giant barrel, and several "smaller" pieces. He is sponsored by Gomberg Kite Productions International.
