To prevent this, call the following number from your cell phone: 888-382-1222. It is the National DO NOT CALL list.
It will only take a minute of your time.
It blocks your number for five (5) years.

Don't worry, this is actually one of those urban legends.
It is, and will continue to be, illegal to use those automated machines to call cell phones.

Thanks for that guys, I've heard both sides of the coin, but never been interested enough to do any research. I don't mind chatting the ears off of those telemarketers, they've called my land-line before, but I've only been contacted by the guys in politics who want my vote on the cell.
