I think it would great fun to have an annual IKE field trip like the one we just had to Huntington Beach.
I'll be going back to HB every year, but that's because I have family there and can stay cheap.

But we should think about where we would like to go next year!

As far as the festivals listed, the first one, New Years Day in San Diego is no big deal. It's only one day. I was just there and it's like a big club fly. I wouldn't make it a destination, but fun enough if you're already in the area for some reason. I flew with the Fosters and Hector all day, so that was a blast. Kite Party is better.

I'll be going to Wildwood this year for the first time. It is a venerable fest.

Fano Beach, Cervia, and Dieppe France are all on my wish list--but not too likely.

Long Beach, Wash. WSIKF is a festival I really want to do. (link)
We can rent an IKE condo there and cram in as many people as we can for a weeks worth of fun.
Give it some thought and maybe that can be our 2009 destination?

There are other festivals that we can do that would just be a long weekend. Any southern destination during winter (Flordia, Texas) would be awesome.

The Niagara Falls Festival (Oct 2-5, 2008) is one that we could maybe carpool to this year. It's a long days drive, but doable.

Too bad 180 GO! isn't coming to WSIKF this year. It would make a great quad presence since iQuad will be at Bristol and not WSIKF. Some of us quad fliers who have been going to WSIKF are planning to get together for as much team flying as we can. Sure would be nice if 180 GO! was there.

For a "vacation" festival it would be hard to top Long Beach. I've done the full week twice and it's great. Nice thing about a long fest is you can take time to do other things and not miss the parts of the fest that interest you most. M,T,W,TH I went off and flew half the day. F,S,S I was in the midst of the fest all day. Huge beach, easy to take off and get some flying room any time.

My relatives have a timeshare there but it only sleeps six.

Book a place a year in advance at least.

Hello,
My vote is for Niagra Falls as I have never been there.

Berck-sur-Mer in France. non world cup years (more variety). One heck of a show. Literally hundreds of thousands of spectators.
