atmega164 arduino boot loader

I assume, that changing baud rate in serial monitor does not affect baud rate during sketch upload. What Is a Bootloader? In meantime I flashed the optiboot just compiled for into my sanguino rbk, it works well, I use this boards. There are features missing on the old board. Since they all seem to come with a male on the end, I chose a female header for mine.
