Indian fighter.

You can get them very cheaply here.
One of these days I'm going to order a bunch and bring them to a club fly to play with.

I have some of those and they are a great deal, ( and do fly nicely  ) What I would get though would be a Fusion Fighter These were designed to meet the needs of how fighter kites are flown here in the US, ( plus they are mylar so they last longer,) and then built by the same craftsmen that build the traditional fighters. The "Set A" with the line a winder is a great way to start. While I haven't ever competed in a fighter kite touch competition, I have flown fighters a bit and they are a blast. A nice sunny day with a steady breeze, your MP3 player, your Pizza box full of about 8 kites and your spool of line. Makes for and hour or two of pure enjoyment :-D :-D :-D The "Bandana Gang", (from Ohio I think ) run a line touch competition at Great Lakes Kite festival. Lots of more info on fighters in the two links below. :-D

Some of the Bandanna gang have shown up at Perry Farms festival in Kankakee/Bourbonnais IL in past years too.

Some folks had asked about fighters recently.
So I'm bumping this topic. As mentioned above,
http://www.one-world-trading.com/kitessmall.shtml
sells good flying kites for a couple bucks a piece.

I don't think that stuff is available anymore. If anyone has some left though, it would probably be Bruce Lambert.
He goes by kitefighter for the first half of his email and the second half is @nwinfo.net

Yea, Boeing stopped using Orcon.

I got some at the Boeing Surplus just over a year ago. It is not Orcon, though. It is Insulfab, or some such name. It looks a lot like Orcon. It has a white coating on one side that takes printer ink very well.

I have not painted any, yet.

I made a della porta, and a squared delta with the material. I have yet to make a fighter with it. I have a skin cut, just need to finish it up.

It cost me $69 to have it shipped to my house.

I know this is very old post but I thought to reply it.

Mike, Let me know if you are planning to bring those fighters and fly to one of the festivals.

I will try to have friendly kite fight with you :-).

I don't have any of those, but I've been thinking of having a fighter kite making clinic/class.
We would make them out of Ripstop nylon, carbon bows and bamboo spines. Pretty different than what you're used to, right? We wouldn't be fighting to cut lines with those, though.

Here's a little something I whipped together this weekend. 8)
Tyvek, bamboo bow & spine, coffee straws for battens, permanent markers.
I still need to test fly it.
I'll have it with me at Grand Haven.

Forgive me for rearranging the logo a bit.

Here's the backside...

That's awesome.
I wont be able to make Grand Haven, so perhaps I'll be able to give it a try at another fest.
