Newbie in Columbus, OH

Postby O2bkytn » Tue, Oct 04 2011, 08:24 AM

Hi all,

New to the forum (thank you Mike!) and new to Rev flying.
Have been flying dual and single lines for about 15 years, and have built a fair amount of single line stuff and line junk.
Finally getting my feet wet with Rev flying and have been bitten HARD! :-D
I am fortunate to have met a great Rev flier here and have been out with her a couple of times now.
What a blast!
The learning curve is pretty steep for me right now, but am getting the hang of it. Just need to get past the dual line habits and learn to stop over-controlling.

Anyway, just wanted to say howdy, thank Mike, and I'll be checking in often to soak up all of the great info here.

Best Breezes!
Bill

Welcome to the club Bill!
Be sure to check out our first ever retreat..

You'll find lots of help at the retreat.

Whether you go or not, be sure to post questions here on the forum and you'll get plenty of local help and opinions. Even though there's a lot of Rev diehards here, the opinions posted here can be more candid since this isn't a Revolution sponsored forum.

I'm sure we'll see you at the Kitefest just north of Cincinnati that's in April. I know Vickie goes to that one.

The learning curve has lots of plateaus where you've learned a new skill. Enjoy each plateau!

Welcome Bill ... it's great to have another member.

You'll have to check in with cadguy here on the forum. Dave lives near Dayton, Ohio, and is an active Rev flier. What kind of SLKs have you built?

Cheers,
Tom

Hey Tom,
I actually met Dave at a little fly during a hot air balloon festival here in Columbus a few months ago. I was very busy with SLKs, and didn't get to fly Revs with him, but got to meet and shoot the breeze with him a little. Nice Guy.
I've built mostly soft kites, a Mini Mock, a Bull Dog, and a few others. Also a few Rocs, Diamonds, Eddys and Della Portas.
Line junk includes a few spin socks, banner tails, spikey balls, a twisty tube and a couple small inflatable things.

Thanks all for the welcome to the forum!!

Best Breezes,
Bill

That's a nice selection of SLKs. My first sewing project was a Della porta.
Be sure to bring your Roks to a fest. We often have battles.

That is a nice collection! It would be great to see them in person some time.

My first sewing project (in 30 years) has been cut & sitting on the table for a few months. Maybe someday I'll actually do the sewing part of the sewing project

Hello and welcome.

Good bunch of people in this club, all bitten hard by the darkside. May your learning curve flatten quickly.
