Hello everyone, just saying hi, I've been trying to complete the profile information but to date have been unable to successfully submit.
Anyway, I'm allllllll mixed up, I like flying both duallies and quad's. Have a 12' Delta w/windspinner tail, several duallies including Beetles, Photon and Nexus 5pack, also have a Rev 1.5 SLE and recently purchased a Rev 1.5 SUL and am seriously considering purchasing the Vented Rev after trying the Jeepster's. Anyway, this is getting too long, I'm from Metamora Il and am retired and have way too many hobbies but love to fly my kites. Have a nice day and thanks for reading. Oh and I'm an old F..t, 67 soon to be 68.

Welcome Aboard jgrob. Glad you met Jeepster and he turned you on to us. Dont worry about being mixed up with all the different kites you have. We all dapple in a few different areas whether it be single and quads like me or dual and quad like some others no names needed. (rght Knoted4ever :rotfl ) Or flying and sewing as I do that too.

As far as buy a vented, now would be the right time with the winter winds coming. Looking forward to doing some flying with you in the near future too.

Welcome to the club from a West Coast member. Yes, there are some of us out here. Don't know when we'll meet face to face, but many of the club came to Kite Party in Huntington Beach last February.

"Oh and I'm an old F..t, 67 soon to be 68."

Gotcha beat..........I turned 68 in May. My wife Lynn is not 68. Don't know if I am the oldest in the club, but must be pretty close. Really doesn't make any difference. Our Revs don't know or care how old we are.

One of the places where I fly is right alongside Illinois Route 24 where traffic is often times very heavy. About a month ago Jim saw me flying and stopped to chat about the kites he owns ... seems he's had a rev 1.5 with an SLE frame set for several years. Since then he's added an SUL to his kite bag ... yep, I let him try mine. Yesterday the wind was strong enough to bring out the vented kite. After he tried mine out he remarked that "I was costing him a lot of money." Now I know how Mike S felt when he passed on the virus.

Jim, welcome to the club ... help is just a question away.

Also, Jim and I were flying yesterday and another kite flyer stopped to talk. Seems he has some dual line kites and a Rev I kite. We traded e-mail addresses so I'll be working on one more club member in the middle of Illinois.

Good job Jeepster. Nice to add new members to the club from the central part of the state.
Where do you fly? Would it be a good location for a club fly?

Could you make a recruiting run up north too?

The spot along Route 24 would be too crowded ... it's the front yard of the Crossroads Church. I fly on the middle school grounds on Sunday ... that spot is two baseball diamonds and two soccer fields plus a little extra space. I'll see if I can come up with the correct person to ask about holding a club fly there. We also have a huge park in town ... many soccer fields and many baseball diamonds in size. During the non-soccer/non-baseball season that area would be great.

That certainly would be great to only drive four or five miles to a club fly!

Cheers,
Tom

Jeff,

My only recruitment technique is to fly for hours alongside a major roadway. Everyone expects to see kites at the beach, but no one expects to see kites bobbing up and down along the roadway. It's neat to see folks stop and take the time to watch for a while. And, it's amazing when someone comes charging across the field to tell you they also fly kites ... it's like craziness loves company.

Hmmm, I wonder if someone would sponsor a team of recruiters. Shirts, jackets, kites, food, etc. Have to come up with a name though ... Route66GO! comes to mind ... The Highway Men would also work. Of course I would hate to give up my membership on ClownsGo! ...

Cheers,
Tom

I liked the idea of having the club fly in your recruiting area. Think how many folks a bunch of kites in the air would attract. But I hear ya--it's too small.
I'd like to have more club flies in areas which might attract new members.

Thanks to all of you for your welcoming replies. Jeepster gave me the bug(virus), I have now ordered the Rev 1.5 Vented. Let the winds blow. To all, have a good day. Jim Grob
