Who's Coming To Dekalb?

Postby Jeff » Wed, Sep 12 2007, 11:30 AM

This is a kind of test to see how this would work on the forum.

Naturally, we expect a pretty big IKE turnout for Dekalb. I was just wondering if the forum would allow us to do a relatively easy headcount using the poll feature. Might be a handy item to add to any thread about a festival just to see who will be there. I wanted to try it and see how polling works on this forum. I don't know if it will display who selects what, or if that is available as with some forums.

So, will you?

Nice new picture Jeff.

I'm coming if I have to crawl there. These kites are going up.

The poll does not appear to show who voted which way. I will be there, probably grumbling about how early I had to get up.

If I am going to put up three big pieces, plus the barrel, plus some mid size pieces, I will definitely be needing help at the end of the day or if the weather turns ugly. So as cell phone of particular vendors may or may not be working, come on over when you see bad weather or the kites starting to come down. Unaided it would probably be a two to three hour job to pack it all up. I don't require help, I just need to know if it won't be there so I only put up what I can deal with myself. That usually does not make organizers happy.

Yes, I know there have been multiple offers of help, I have learned the hard way to be a pain in the A** and remind people a lot.

Maybe I am just grumpy because it is an ugly day at work and I am still over 300 e-mails behind from taking a four day weekend. No vacation time goes unpunished.

Alas, I was hoping that the votes would be publicly viewable so that we could see which individuals were going to be there. Other forums have that feature, I don't know if that's something that can be changed in the settings of phpBB.

What time do you think you'll be getting there? I'd be glad to get there as early as needed to help with any setup. Also, if we can find 15 minutes or so to spend for the last bits of our video shoot sometime during the day, that would be great.

I'm looking forward to seeing this barrel...I'll do whatever it takes to get it set up!

It's a great satisfaction knowing that for a brief point in time you made a difference.

I think Al mostly needs help at the end of the day. That's when we are all tired and ready to go, but Al has several hundred pounds of ripstop to put away.

You can take parking attendant off the list. It's more important that you fly then park.

Wait a minute, if Al doesn't need the help setting up, there's other things we could use extra hands doing!

There's fields to mark, kiters to assist/direct, tents to put up, banners, sound guy could use a hand or two, and oh, yea!! KITES!! We need to get kites in the AIR!

Question of the day is, "What brought you out to the festival?" Last year, most folks said they saw the kites, so this year the challenge is to keep our lead on the promo'rs who really went all out this year.

Alan,

No problem, like i said i'm right down the road so no big deal for me to hang out and help.

Draft,

More than willing to help in the AM just let me know what you need me to do and what time to be there. I have about 10 years behind me in Audio video if your sound guy needs a hand... or a back :)
