Hmm. Interesting. I wonder if I could make that. It might be a tough sell for the family though, already having MOTS the next weekend, and Dekalb the week after that.

Mike,

Thanks for posting our upcoming event (think Grand Haven...only on a smaller scale) Would've done it myself, but wasn't sure it was allowed on here...seeing as this site is sponsored by another kite shop.

BTW...you can also add Jerry Houk of MN to the guest list. I was finally able to get ahold of him & he said he'd be game to join us again this year. For those of you who don't know Jerry, he's an art kite creator of some reknown. You might recall one of his large, award-winning roks on the front cover of KITING a while back. He & Kenny (a character of South Park fame) were also regulars at Madison's "Kites On Ice' festival for years.

PS: Jeff....I hope that you & the family can make it!! Last year was a blast...with perfect weather. Hoping for more of the same this time around.

get 'high' on kites,

Jeff Hale

Been talking this one over with my wife. She thinks she'd like a bit of a change of scenery for a weekend, so it looks pretty positive that the family will be trucking on up.

I'm checking on hotels...probably trying for something with a suite so Kayla can have a separate room. I don't want to be sitting quietly in the dark at 8:30.

What hotel are you guys going to be at?

(Yeah, I know I ended that sentence with a preposition...there's no English teachers here, are there? :P )

I was told where I was probably staying, but no confirmation yet.

Day three of the Dieppe festival today, one so-so flying far (ended in rain, packed the octopus wet) and one great day. Time to get moving for today, hopefully a dry day!

Woo-hoo!

I'm all confirmed for this fest. The family and I will be there both days. We're staying at the AmericInn in Manitowoc. I called and asked the manager if there was a discount since the website said they were a sponsor, and to tell them you're coming for the fest. Sure enough, I got nearly 25% off.

I'd like to go to this on Saturday.

How big is the flying field? Is there room for recreational flyers or is the whole area taken up by demos?

I don't know if any of us on the forum have been there before. I'm sure there will be room for sport kiters or it wouldn't make sense for me to be invited. I don't do demos.

Looks to me like it's a big beach, much like Grand Haven, so there should be plenty of room.

Isaac, we can do a mini-mega fly as a warm up for the following week!
And did I see that you have a Rev II now? That's a fun kite. I've got a couple of them. We could do a rev II-mini-mega-fly with lots of fast spins and dive stops!

Thanks Mike. I was hoping for some Mega Fly practice.

The Rev IIs won't be here until next week.

My wife was pleased with this. She says that if she and Kayla want to go do something else, I can get a ride back to the hotel.

Glad to see she's looking out for me. :P
