We are going (me, Elie, Jenny and my Mom) to stop by... It's Elie's golden birthday that day (5) and it will be her first trip into the city!

Well, for the front lawn of the Museum of Science and Industry, we had great wind. For any where else it was mostly turbulent and light. The octopus flew from 9:30 to 2:30 with MANY relaunches early, the bite from 12:30 to 2:30 pretty much continuously. Our major problem was with field integrity late in the fly. It finally just got too dangerous to continue flying. We had five people from the Mayor's Offiice of Special Events trying to keep people out from under the big kites. We finally had to give up.

Over all, much better than the years with the wind coming over the Museum, nothing much at all flew on those years.

It was good seeing you Al... My family was very impressed and Jenny and my Mom talked about 'The Octopus whom shall not be named' :rotfl on the ride over to the Shedd Aquarium... Then we looked at real ones..lol

Did you get any cameras over your way? I saw a blurb on CLTV but didn't get to watch the other channels... there was a bunch of TV vans there and photographers all over the place also.

I did notice a geko on the Chicago events page... was that your's from a previous year?

Good to see you too, and to meet your family.

We had a bunch of still photographers, and I think channel 5 shot some video, I am not sure. They at least moved their truck closer.

I don't see the gecko image you are talking about.

Next week: Flying for Cub Scouts

I'm glad to hear you had great wind! Sounds like you got crowds too, that's wonderful!

Great wind for that field, which is notorious for BAD wind. I probably had to relaunch 20-30 times in the first two hours :( It got better after that. However any flyable wind is great wind for that field. :-)

Grinnell winds were strong, but not crazy. We flew all day. Rose, Chris and I did some team stuff and we also goofed around with the crowd. Good wind for flying at night too. And in the evening, Chris made his debut doing indoor flying to wild applause! He did a great routine even though he'd only started flying indoor that very day.
