Kites Over Sycamore

Postby TheBigKiteGuy » Sat, Dec 16 2006, 10:10 PM

The Sycamore Chamber of Commerce, http://www.sycamorechamber.com/visit/events.html , lists Kites Over Sycamore on April 7th.
An earlier post said the 14th. Is there a definitive date?

If it was me that said it was the 14th, better go by the Chambers date. I think I may have been looking at last years dates on the AKA site.

It's north of 88 and west of route 47. This should give you a better idea: http://maps.ask.com/maps?a1=&a2=Sycamore%2c+IL#1

It's way out in farm country

Also famous for the Sycamore Speedway... I've been going there since I was old enough to be pushed in a baby carriage... no wonder I'm left handed... :rotfl

So...Sycamore is this weekend.

Just bumping the thread to see who is going to this.

Weather forecast doesn't look good. If the weather is halfway decent, I'll go. It's about as close as these things get to my house.

Babbman and I will be there with our daughters (so we don't expect to get much flying in anyhow   :rotfl )

If the weather isn't too bad, I'll drive up with and bring some Red shirts with me.
It's a lot of time and gas $ if it's snowing though :(

Here's the latest graph of the forecast.
If it turns out to be too cold, we can stop flying early and get together in a coffee place / pizza parlor / whatever and hang.
I haven't met some of you yet, and would enjoy doing so.

Since the flying field is just about 3 miles away, we'd better be there!

The park district is hosting an easter egg hunt for the kids if anybody is interested. I think that's supposed to be at 10:00.

I added a pushpin (#8) to our Festival Map.

Locals can tell me if I have it right.

Here's a Google Map as well.

See y'all there, rain or shine (or snow!). And I'll be bringing red shirts!

We had a cooold, but great time today. A big thanks to Kar-Free Flowers for hosting Kites Over Sycamore! 8) I don't believe a single kite got eaten by any trees this year, thanks to those cold ol' northwest winds.

Thanks also, Mike, for bringing the shirts and a sampler of materials. The shirts look great!

Hope eveyone made it home safe and sound, and enjoyed the day as much as we did and got warmed up!

Had a great time out there despite the cold...and my snapped line...and my broken spreader... ;)

I was a little hesitant about it due to the weather, but really, if you're dressed for it, it's not bad at all.

And thanks Mike for letting me fly the quad, I really enjoyed it!
