Snoopys New Airplane

Postby kiteguy » Sat, Nov 24 2007, 07:55 PM

Snoopy was lucky enough to have a friend in our club, and had a new airplane built for him. If you would like to see him putting it through the paces, take a look at this. Now the Red Barron has reason to fear the skies of Kansas!!!

that's cool. It looks very different from Hector's plane.
Maybe they could dog-fight together!
Do you have any closeup photos of the Snoopy plane?

Yes, it does look very different than the one Hector made. However, it was a photo of Hector's Snoopy rev that inspired him.

Don wanted to make a kite with Snoopy on his doghouse. He could not figure how to frame it. So Don used a cartoon from the Internet to find an aggressively pose that he wanted. Almost. Then he took down a tiny biplane from a hanging display I had for a model on the biplane shape. Lots of hemming, hawing, beating around the bush...he finally decided on his.

He has interesting ideas, but his kites are made to be seen in motion at the ends of the lines. You ask for closeups. Here are some. Three of them let you see what I mean about craftsmanship. He doesn't care. As long as they fly. And they do. :-)

Here is the link to an album of some of the still pics I took.

Thanks for the photos. I have the same feelings about craftsmanship as your friend--the kite looks great to me!

If you come to Kite Party, you and Hector could have a great Dog Fight!
