16 Kite Revolution Megateam
16 Kite Revolution Megateam
Here's a video I stumbled across on YouTube.
16 seems a bit awkward, but pretty cool, nonetheless.

Re: 16 Kite Revolution Megateam
Thanks for the video Jeff. Since this is a group of teams that usually fly together (notice the sets of matching kites), I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt and say they had crummy winds.
Re: 16 Kite Revolution Megateam
I dunno...it had to be tricky to orchestrate that show!
(I could have crashed it in less than a minute!

Just seeing that many Rev's in the air all at one time is impressive. The form's look easy enough, but when you have 64 lines in the air it wouldn't take much to end the party!

It's also harder than it looks. You have to be able to hold the kite perfectly steady in any orientation, judge your speed relative to everyone elses, and be able to visualize what the formation will look like and where you belong in it.
I don't have a photo of what the kites looked like (maybe just as well
), but all the kite lines look neat:

and here's a 4-man:

Then check out Steve's Web Page for our own club members doing this kind of stuff, before we were a club!

I know you're right Mike...
It's kind of hard with everyone on the team holding the 0deg orientation in the form... "But It's my turn, you were on top last week!"

Re: 16 Kite Revolution Megateam
So who is going to be practicing with Rev stacks so they can fly pickup team with Lee Segdwick and Sam Ritter at Grand Haven?

Re: 16 Kite Revolution Megateam
I flew team with Lee, Sam, and Zach last year, but we didn't fly stacks. So everyone with a single Rev is welcome to join us out on the demo field this year.

Any pics of the team stack flying? I'd love to see that.

No photos that I'm aware of. And that's actually OK.--we had some misunderstanings of Lee's calls and it was a wee bit of a catastrophe. I don't think anyone who knew anything about kites were impressed

I will dig through my backup disks, I know I have some pictures of Lee, Sue, Sam and Annie team flying stacks of Revs.

Re: 16 Kite Revolution Megateam
Lee and Sue used to do some real nice stack routines together. I would like to see video of that.

Still, the best was Sue's dual line dog stake routine, I am grateful that I was able to see it several times over the years. I miss Sue.

Here's a link to Sam and Ann Ritter's page. Scroll down to the third set of pics for some cool shots of Rev stacks

It's a great satisfaction knowing that for a brief point in time you made a difference.

Does Pegasus fly stacks? I know I've seen team stack flying with tails, so that makes me think it was Pegasus.

Re: 16 Kite Revolution Megateam
The 16 Rev megateam here looks like it might have been at Berck Sur Mer, France, last April. That's my guess anyway.
I flew as part of 15 at WSIKF last August with iQuad, although we didn't do all that these do, it was great fun. This could happen at Kite Party this weekend. I hope, I hope, I hope.

Re: 16 Kite Revolution Megateam
Well, it happened!
We had sixteen Revs. Mike was part of it as were Lynn and I.
It was a blast! I'm sure there will be pictures all over the web. I know Mike has some, don't know who else.
Try it, you'll like it
