I had mentioned that there was a build on KiteBuilder so heres the link
http://www.kitebuilder.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=7181

If you like sewing stuff and are looking for a project around March-ish
take a look and see what you think.

-> maybe if we get enough here we could hijack big mikes shop for assembly.... that would be a lot of fabric in one place..

I didn't read all 13 pages, but wow, that's a huge kite!
It would be nice to have a lifter that can handle heavy winds well.

If anyone thinks they might want to build this kite (10 feet wide by 7.5 feet long) they need to act quickly. Barry posted the thread five days ago ... it's now 15 pages long. Because of the hugh response, he's going to cut it off at 50 kites and there are 32 or 33 already ordered ... Mux11 has one. One of the respondents said he could hardly buy the material for what Barry's charging.

I think I'll participate from the sidelines on this one ... go Jim ... go Jim ... go Jim!

Cheers,
Tom

I can show up and help sew if the project is conducive to more than one person sewing on it.
Especially if the kite is in the club colors

Oh, the offer to help is a given. But, as for building my own kite this large, I'd like to tackle a few smaller projects first ... after all, even Wilber and Orville didn't start with a 747 at Kitty Hawk. Or I could learn from helping with someone else.

As to color, two out of three club colors are there:

Cheers,
Tom

Chris & I have been talking about a lifter for 2 years now. This is the perfect opportunity...

I'm not doing club colors only because of the discussion on the color bleeding and last year, we had a rainbow Jordan 100 that people were pulling off the road to come talk to us about..

Should be a fun project for the winter and my wife is just going to LOVE seeing all that colorful material littering our kitchen!

this is it..

I like all the designs so far.
I'll help with Mike's though, since it's club colors :-)

It will be really cool to see all these in the air together at festivals.

Its neat to see other Ike's jumpin in on this project !!!
and awesome Berry is doing all that cutting.

picking colors wasnt as easy as i thought... just too many combinations! maybe Ill use the pieces and make a pattern.

Ive been thinking about a project like an FF05 or an FF03 in about this size so timing couldnt be better.

oh and if you squint really hard you can see the club colors ;)

You know, I'm mostly teasing about the club colors thing.
I will be on hand to kibbitz and get in the way of anyone making a kite. ;)

uh oh, Babbman had a heavy box of kite material sitting on the porch today.

Looks like I got my Bulldog...

Now crap, where the hell did I put that sewing machine!

I'm gonna have something NEW this year!

I suppose I need to make up some 100' tubes to hang off the back of this guy too..lol

Jenny is going to kill me for taking up the kitchen again. I don't think she's over the spikey ball yet...

I was beginning to wonder when the HOUNDS were going to be released. Glad to hear they have arrived.

Here is hoping you all can find your way to the bedroom once in awhile from under all that material. :rotfl
Have fun with the projects guys.

Yeah, we need some single lines and line art at some of our upcoming festivals.
Who's got it finished? How long did it take?

I'd love to seem some of them flying during Kite Month (April).

A big foil can be a handful to sew, I've built many. If any one has questions on just how to start the sewing or what ever, just ask. Lets get them flyin.

well, since my fam has been deprived of time with me my wife is holding it hostage till i get my Comp's done for school. After that Im planning on doing a non-stop build on the DOG till its done and flying. (not sure what im asking for there)
Im thinking maybe 10-12 hrs straight should do it.

There have been some comments on the KB site and threw it out there that to prove i was doing a NS build that I would turn the web cam on with like skype so you can check on me. super geeky I know.

My test is on Sat, was thinking i would stich starting Sun; but our professors are taking us out drinking after the exam to celebrate so we will see.

another note, I have also committed to building a Jordan-200 and hope to get that done right after the DOG.
trust me I will post pics!!!
cheers ~ jp
now back to studying :doc:

They must be purple and red because I uncaged the PitBull
about 10.5 hr later it is bridalded and ready for wind.

Its amazing how quickly the pile adds up in a hurry. Check out my Burrito Roll

Will post some flight pictures once I get there.
