Night Flight... Lights

hey guys,, you may have seen this other places, but figured i should post here too...
Grand Haven is coming soon and they have he Night Fly

I was working on this the other day. I put it together and flew it for 1.5hrs in 8-12mph winds with the fv. I never adjusted the lights at all. Slammed it through atleast 6 "devil to georgia" songs and didn't move a bit!

Tonight we had a preschool registration at 7, put the kite together in the dark, filmed it and got home at 8. Wife was wonderful treking around in the bitter cold and wet snow to catch it on video.

Not my Normal flying but you get the idea. I planned and left in a couple crashes too.. I'm not telling which ones I planned 8-)

this video...
1.5 full vent, 3 wrap
stormy 6-8mph sometimes 0
it looks heavy in the video but i think it is just the wind/kite combo, cuz it flew great earlier!

YouTube won't play it on my phone :(
How much does it weigh?

led strips. I haven't weighed them yet but I would say all together it feels like i have the SLE frame in the kite. that's with a 3wrap in. I will try to get it weighed. It really did fly well. I have 2 bat packs at the LE where the verticals attach. so there is more MOMENTUM in spins. I think i will try attaching it at the center for less momentum.

This has to be added to the 180GO! repertoire. THAT would be coolest team flying event. The kites would have to be different color patterns though so you could keep track of which kite is which.

LUCKILY I HAVE ANOTHER! :) there is a little update to it at the end of the video where the REVOLUTION is now illuminated. Wish I had gotten her in the air but it was getting cold and i think i need to go back and watch the LINIE MANAGEMENT video again.. :(

Can't believe how freaking bright those LEDs are! How much total weight does the system add (including batteries, wires, etc.)?

Well it weighs less than the tail weight that comes with the zephyr. I made one for the 4d but havent flown it yet, hopefully tomorrow. The rev flew great with 2 of them on it, but i think i can do it with just one... i am really trying to make the rev LIGHT up like the zephyr.. maybe tonight will be the night.

I am pretty happy with the Rev now... I reworked half the lights and got a much better effect.. able to see the kite now, not just the lights. I put a hole bunch of time into "K.I.S.S" and sometimes that takes more time than just making it light up.. my fathers an engineer.. he can do anything... but you may REGRET IT later :)

with the kite set up on the field it only takes a minute or two to install everything and everything comes off
easily.

Grand Haven.... HERE I COME :guns:

Can you see the kite from a distance?

Lighting up a dark colored sail is a challenge!

I agree 100%, especially a DARK sail! I think i have come up with a way to get some light on it... it looks pretty aggressive right now

I have a date night planned with the wife and we are going to try to get it out tonight with some pics and video.. the lights on the end look good, but I really wanted to be able to see some SAIL.. i'll be using my 75ft in the pics/vids. I'll need some 500ft when I play UFO... is that what you guys use? i know there is an INNER CIRCLE of kite/UFO pilots!!!! I just want in :)

We're usually on 120 ft lines for team flying. The longest set I've ever used were Jynx's 250 foot lines. The kite was just a tiny dot at the end of the line, and the wind window was HUGE. It seemed like a half hour to fly from one side to the other :-) .

250 ft must have been crazy! If these come out pretty good, maybe you guys could use it for team. That would be bad ass... AeroShark is working on something very similar!!!

250' is great fun on a big beach. After flying on them for a short while it made my 120s feel short!
