İngilizce Sayıların Okunuşunu Öğrenme ve Kurallar

İngilizcede sayıları öğrenmek için ilk önce İngilizce rakamları arasında ezberleyin.
İngilizce 12’den 19’a kadar olan sayıların sonuna “teen” eki getirilir ve bu sayıları söz konusu kurala göre öğrenmek en doğrusudur.
İngilizce sayılarda belli bir mantık olsa bile, 11 ve 12 sayıları istisnaya sahiptir. Bu nedenle fazla düşünmeden ezberlemenizi öneririz.
İngilizce sayılarda arasını öğrenebilmek için 10 ve katlarını (20,30,40 gibi) öğrenmeniz gerekir.

İngilizce 'birinci', 'ikinci' ve 'üçüncü' gibi sıra sayıları okunurken sonuna “th” ifadesi eklenir. Ancak bazı istisnai durumlar vardı. 1 ile bitiyorsa “st”, 2 ile bitiyorsa “nd”, 3 ile bitiyorsa “rd” eklenir. 11, 12 ve 13 için özel bir kural vardır ve bu sayıların sonuna “th” eklenir.

Günlük hayatta en çok belirleyici olarak kardinal sayıları kullanırız (isimlerden önce). Rakamlar; İngilizce konuşurken en sık kullandığımız kelimelerdendir. Aslında sadece İngilizce için değil, tüm diller için tamamlayıcı ve belirtici nitelikteli kelimeler olan rakamların nasıl söylendiğini, telaffuz edildiğini ve yazıldığını bilmemiz, İngilizce başta olmak üzere konuştuğumuz tüm dillerde akıcı olmamamıza yardımcı olur. Bir dili öğrenmeye başlarken, ilk olarak, tanışma cümleleri, zamirler, iyelik belirten sıfatlar, çoğul-tekil yapıları, haftanın günleri, ülke isimleri ve bunun gibi bir çok yapılar öğrenilir ve bolca örnekler yapılarak bu yapıların iyice pekiştirilmesi sağlanır. Süreç içerisinde dil ile ilgili &#;zamanlar&#; ve bazı temel dilbilgisi kalıpları öğrenildikten sonra değişik aktivitelerle kelimeler ve yapılar tam olarak kavranmış olur. Tekrarlar ve akılda kalıcı yöntemler, çözülen örnekler, sıkça sözlük karıştırmak etkili tekniklerdir.

Biz bu teknikleri zaman içerisinde uygulamaya çalışacağız. Bu girişten bile önce ise, önemli bir konu olan rakamlar konusuna giriş yaparak İngilizcede var olan sayıları öğrenmeye başlayabiliriz.

İngilizce matematiksel dört işlem için bazı basit örnekler yapalım:

Sayılar konusunda epey bilgi verdik ama bir iki ufak bilgiyi daha sizlerle paylaşmak istiyorum,

0 (sıfır) rakamıyla ilgili bazı özel durumlardan bahsedeceğim;

Ondalık virgülden sonra kullanılırsa,
0 = oh yani, = six point oh eight
Oda ve otobüs numaralarını söylerken,
Room = room one of four
Bus = bus five oh seven
Telefon numaralarında,
= five four seven eight oh one oh
Yıllarda,
=nineteen oh one
0 = nought, ondalık virgülden önce,
= nought point oh six
0 = zero, sıcaklık değerlerini söylerken,
&#;C = 10 degrees below zero
Amerikan İngilizcesinde rakam olarak 0 = Zero.
0 = nil futbol terimi olarak, Trabzonspor 2 Fenerbahçe 0 = Trabzonspor two Fenerbahçe nil
0 = love, tenisde 40 - 0 = "forty love" şeklinde yazılır.
