Roxy: Yes, the food is wonderful and the lodging provides interesting opportunities to learn more about your fellow kite makers than you may really want to know..... Actually, it's dorm style lodging but the beds are comfortable and you don't have to sleep on the top bunk (unless you really ...

Re: Dichroic Fused Glass

Glass Eye studios also make awesome dichroic paperweights using ash from Mt St. Hellens.

Does anyone have the contact info for this festival? I'd like to get hold of him/her and find out some specifics.

Thanks!

Re: Team Fly Music

I'm not on the quad team but I've always been a big fan of "Stairway to Heaven" by Led Zeppelin.

It has lots of variation in intensity and wind/sky themes.

Finally have all the panels built and ready for connecting. Hopefully it will be done by Sunday. Then you can add 3 line kites to the list that IKE members fly!

Informal Dinner At Chez Schwanz Saturday, Sept 15.

Hi all, For kiters coming into town Saturday for the DeKalb Kite Festival on Sunday, we'll be hosting a very informal dinner on the 15th around 6:00 pm at our home in Sycamore. There'll be French Onion Soup, Italian Beef sandwiches and chicken/veggie kabobs on the grill along with various snacky stu...

Re: Wayne, IL Festival

Hey Mike, I don't see a date for this one listed anywhere. If you could let us know when it is that would be great!

Wayne is just a hop away from us in the DeKalb area and is right next door for Roxy!

Re: Wazo

I got mine from kite builder. Instead of 5 footers I'm using some smaller rods with ferrules. There shouldn't be any problems. Just a note...be sure to look at the direction page if you are planning on making one. The two biggest panels only have 1 90 degree corner, the bottom is 1.3 cm wider than t...

Thanks for the tip Mike. Yes, that's the one. Here's my "artistic" touch: http://upload2.postimage.org/276510/wazo2.jpg You can see the fine points to worry about. As a last resort I may terminate the color stripe an inch or two from the tip but that's not my favorite solution. It'll be fu...

Wazo

I'm venturing into the mysterious world of Kite Construction once again and this time my goal is a three line arch called a Wazo. My question lies in the tips of the kite. The whole thing is going to be about 450 cm by 40 cm in the middle tapering to fine points. The design, that JJ was kind enough ...
