Re: Barresi Westbound Through Illinois?

I'd be willing to pitch in. But as a rookie I don't feel comfortable contacting him.

Barresi Westbound Through Illinois?

John Barresi is apparently on his way home to Portland and will be driving through Pennsylvania in the next few days. I would think he would pass through Illinois on the journey home. Anyone got any pull to get us a "casual clinic" with him?

Re: Dutchrev from..... The Netherlands

Welcome. Very interesting manual. Bill If you like that one (and it's very good for beginning team flying), you should also check out this page for learning rev techniques and moves, and this mega fly manual written by our very own IKE leader, Mike Kory for more advanced team flying. Very super int...

Thanks. Very nice of you. All the more reason for me to show up. (I've got the boss's OK already.)

Re: August 16 Saturday

Bill - I can't join you (at a festival with 180Go!), but it sounds like you are making good progress. I'm assuming if you are hovering inverted, then you can fly a figure 8 in the sky as well. Those two skills are pretty key to be able to fly in groups with others. I'd suggest working on speed cont...

August 16 Saturday

I can't do Sunday, but tomorrow afternoon I'll be practicing somewhere up until about 4 pm. Maybe between raindrops. Winds are forecast to be above 8 mph. I'm still a Rev rookie but have been able to consistently hover inverted and sideways. I could use some guidance from you experienced flyers. Let...

Assembled correctly.

Those "hybrid" leading edge end caps popped off the lighter rods several times after some less than graceful landings yesterday. But not "crashes" certainly.

I can check to see if I have one in black when I'm home, which won't be for a week or so.
Feel free to PM me if I forget...

Thanks! With my skills I'll probably put it on backwards. Geez.

Re: Higher Wind Rev Advice Wanted

One note - the vertical rods always go on the back of a rev, even if it seems like the caps naturally would have the rods on the front. You'll like how it flies even better after you make that change. Well I'll be a suck egged mule. (Always wanted to use that.) It does seem backward the way the cap...

Re: Higher Wind Rev Advice Wanted

This is what I ended up with. Had the urge and the cash so made the plunge. It arrived this week thanks to "backdraft." Flies great. Better than the EXP in that kite's upper wind range. Mike was right as far as I'm concerned when he wrote, "venting slows things down and smooths out th...

I'm flexible on the time. Perhaps 1 pm or so.

Re: August 9 and 10

Had a great time even though by my lonesome. Winds about 12 mph with gusts to 20. Flew my new SLE 1.5 for the first time. It showed up a couple of days ago courtesy of backdraft. Didn't think the conditions would be favorable for it this soon after it arrived. I used the lighter of the two supplied ...

August 9 and 10

I'm by myself here at the East side Sports Complex in Saint Charles. Except for a great breeze. Will be here until about 2 pm if anyone is interested in coming out.

Re: My first kite forum...

yepits Welcome. I'm an IKE newcomer, also. Everyone here has been very helpful. I'm in St. Charles and often travel towards the Rockford area. I'd be willing to get together sometime. One of my kite flying places between us is the Burlington Prairie Forest Preserve just northwest of Burlington. Bill

Re: 8-3-2014 Sunday

My wife said that I was out there for three hours. It went by quickly. First I launched a SLK to act as a wind gauge. Then I got my NikNak airborne since the winds at the time were light. That was fun for about 30 minutes until the winds picked up. I felt that the breeze was generally exceeding the ...

8-3-2014 Sunday

The East Side Sports Complex in St. Charles was deeeeserted yesterday except for one lone NiKNak flyer. I will probably be out there again for a while this afternoon if anyone wishes to join in the low wind, warm day fun.

Re: Skyburner NikNak

Can't go wrong with Skyburner and especially dealing directly with Jon and Marieanne. Great people, great service. I have a Skyburner Ocius UL that I bought used. It's a trickier kite and I would probably have been better off with the Nik Nak, because I'm more interested in "precision" fl...
