Re: 3rd annual IKE Kite retreat! September 21st / 22nd

Mike, We managed to remove one cooler and one kite bag, that gives her enough room for essentials in the camper. I still don't understand why one would take a dress bag to a state park camping, but I truly don't think I understand women. I do know howeve,r the next quiz I take that has answers like ...

Re: 3rd annual IKE Kite retreat! September 21st / 22nd

With the anticipation growing of spending the weekend camping and flying on the beach, I pulled out the camper, cleaned her out and started packing for the weekend festivities. My wife came out and looked around and asked "Is there any room left for my stuff?" to which I reply....with grea...

Re: 3rd annual IKE Kite retreat! September 21st / 22nd

Looking forward to making this! Me too and hoping to see my new STD. I am going with all the joy and excitement of a four year old on Christmas morning, but definitely not looking forward to any STD's. Is there something I am missing about the retreat I should know about? LOL. Hoping you ...

Michigan City anyone?

I know this is last minute, but i got Nemo back from the Seamstress and eager to put him up. If anyone fancies, we should be out at Michigan City beach by 11:00 or so. Wind predictions are SSW at 10-15. Should be strong enough to hang some laundry. Probably take the Rev and some others stuff too. I ...

Re: 3rd annual IKE Kite retreat! September 21st / 22nd

Well Aware of that Mike. I visited the campground there last time Trigger and I Flew. It is a very nice facility, with clean showers and bathroom facilities. just thought it would be a great way to spend the weekend enjoying both hobbies with the family. I am going to wait until closer to the weeken...

Not sure what happened . . . it seems David and I were the only IKErs there . . . but my son and I did get to fly a bit of team together. Very nice wind, vented all afternoon. Had a rok up in the air with a wind wheel. So, it's all IMG_20130804_161332_840 cropped small.jpg Sorry guys, mother in law...

Funny you mention that. I just bought one the other day with that purpose in mind... Good kite?

Sure is, needs a small tail on each wingtip and it stabilizes beautifully. I use surveyor tape for tails.

And the Addiction begins...

So I walked in to my favorite crack dealers shop, I mean kite shop, today and walked out with a Barressi B series sparkling new Purple and whites Rev today. (dammit Trigger, and your lure. It was like Candy from a guy in a white van when you gave me those handles.) so anyhow, it came with three sets...

Re: Wind meter/anemometer ... any value?

I carry two items in my bag besides my Wind meter with the dead batteries. One is a Small prism stowaway Delta. Put it up, and you always have the wind center and if its under 5 MPH, it wont stay up. The other item is from my RC flying days, its a small surveyor's wooden stick with a piece of ribbon...

It's 20' x 10' willy Koch mesh delta. Up in the air people always notice the colors, but they never believe the size till I pull it down. When they hear that's a 30' tube tail, the get the idea.

Re: How bout 7/28 at the dunes?

Jim, it's funny to see those shots of the rev next to the big delta. Was totally different when I hauled her down from 500 ' and it dwarfs the rev! Glad the switch in the brain went off, I was starting to question my cognitive motor skill and thinking about checking into a home! It is defiantly a 2 ...

Re: How bout 7/28 at the dunes?

Glad you guys had a good time. Sorry I couldn't make it. We did a little flying at a local park Sunday evening and met a local kite maker who we didn't even know lives in town. To what kind of flying line was that mesh delta tied? It looks like some kind of big rope! https://lh6.googleusercontent.c...

Second flight costs about $308 plus tax!
It was one of those days you just didn't expect much, but turned out a fantastic flying day.

Re: How bout 7/28 at the dunes?

Well, with the morning starting out with rain and thunder, I didn't figure we would get any flying in. But shortly after the rain quit, the sun came out and I texted trigger, its a go. When I got there the beach was empty. The guard said they weren't expecting a big turnout because swimming was limi...

Short of rain and lightnening, I will be there. text you when I get there, or if I wont be, either way. Jeep already packed with flyables so I hope we have decent weather, 10-20 mph I am gonna load the 5 stack up too.

10ish? The days half gone! No matter, I plan on staying till sunset. When the wife gives me kite time I use it to the fullest. If there is little wind in the morning I am taking my 4D and the new prism zero. I can play with them for a while. Dark park, hope you can join us.

Re: How bout 7/28 at the dunes?

This is one great flying kite. I met Ken Mcneill of Blue Moon Kites a few years back and he was at GLKF in Grand haven Mi. Oonce I seen it in the air, I had to add it to my collection!! This will be the first kite flying Sunday. http://kmacfab.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/reprise-rt1a2.jpg
