Re: Illegal Kiting

It is illegal to fly a kite on the beach in front of the Hotel Del Coronado in San Diego. At the south end of the hotel, there is a breakwater. It is OK to fly south of that breakwater. Flying north will get you a ticket. There are no signs stating the law. It is up to you to know the law on Coronad...

Re: Winter Dreaming ...

Just got this message from Watty "Ah, well it's a very nice place to fly, the specific spot there is at the very tip of the Baja Peninsula. The wind was quite heavy though. I used a double leading edge every day. In June, the sun was very bright, but the wind came off of the Pacific and was coo...

Re: Winter Dreaming ...

That's good news. What time of year? I said not to trust my memory. Don't know, but I'll see if I can find out. Don't have Watty's e-mail address. Tried to PM him through the Rev forum, but that site seems to be having problems at the moment. Will try later, Watty was there in June of 2008. We were...

Re: Winter Dreaming ...

Ahhh, but they are planning for June. That's when the weather is good here and very hot south of the border. Why wasn't it planned for January or February? Let me say right off that my memory is not all that trustworthy, but given that caveat: I've been to Cabo, and the beaches aren't all that wide...

Re: Winter Flying C-U?

I'm in Champaign, but I'm not a power kiter--I fly Revolution quad-line sport kites. I'm also a wimp about the cold and don't fly often in the winter  Mike Go ahead and tell it the way it is. Many of us know that you come to the west coast in the winter and fly with us on the beach in your IK...

Re: Nov 21st Club Fly

You folks all have a good fly.

The 21st is Lynn's birthday, so we'll most likely go fly at Fairview Park in Costa Mesa.

Mike knows that park.

Mike

If you recall, when I first started using Firefox I could stay logged in to the other forums, but I had to log into IKE Forum each time I went there. Don't know what changed, but now it keeps me logged into IKE as well.

Re: Internet Explorer V8

I've used Firefox for years. It's cross platform so I was able to use it seamlessly across windows, linux and now my mac. Look into the add-ons that are available. That's where it really shines. The two Firefox add-ons I like are Download Helper, for capturing videos from the internet, and Adblocke...

Did you change because of the stiffness of the rods and the gusts or because the 3-wraps made the kite too heavy?

We changed to get lighter rods. Wanted the stronger sail and bridle because of the gusts. Worked just fine.

Re: Which Rods???

Yesterday Lynn and I went to our local park. We set up standard 1.5s with three wrap frames. The wind was a little light, and gusty. Flying was not great. We changed to two wrap frames. Kites flew just fine for the rest of the day. I don't think there are any rules. We just find a combination that w...

Lynn and I hope you had a nice Birthday.

Sorry this greeting is late, but my laptop has been at the Doctor getting it's electrical connection repaired, and we just picked it up this afternoon.

Re: Kite Party Roll Call

Mike, Those are great! In the last picture of the launch sequence you can actually see the sand flying as Jim is getting traction. I can see Lynn in the background taking pictures ... those would show the expression on Jim's face. Wonder where those pictures are hidden. Cheers, Tom Lynn didn't get a...

Very nice video, Jynx. Thanks for posting.

I watched it twice before I realized that Lynn and I were flying next to Mike in the "six".

Were the others Jeremy, Brian and Mike S?
