Dan and Zach are packing the "kite coffin" this minute, getting ready to leave for Seal Beach tomorrow night. Russ, Josh, Dan and Zach will represent the Chicago Fire Kite Team on Sunday and they are all really looking forward to the event. Zach is also hoping to fly with the Rev Mega Team...

Re: Sharing I.K.E. Photos

We like the "flickr" site as well and here are two links you may want to check out. The first one is Dan Brinnehl's site and the second is John Cosby's site. Some of you met John and Elaine Cosby (Pegasus) at Mots this past weekend. For those of you who did not, John and Elaine Cosby lived...

Re: Kites Over Lake Michigan

What a great weekend! It was so much fun to participate in a new event and receive such an enthusiastic response. The folks who attended seemed to have a great time and are looking forward to next year! Thanks to Ken for saying "Yes"! You did a great job and filled a needed "quad hole...

Re: Pontiac Kite Festival Perchance

We had a great time this weekend. The wind could have been better, but we all had fun nonetheless. The spectators were treated to some great quad team flying as well as some good-natured "taunting"! The big kites on Saturday and Sunday morning really brought the spectators out. And Al's ba...

AKA Competition - Kites Over Branch County

Hi Everyone! Just a reminder that Kites Over Branch County is taking place this weekend, July 27 - 29 in Coldwater, MI. An indoor competition will take place on Friday night followed by two days of ballet and precision competition and demos. The Tri-State Wind Riders is sponsoring the event and they...

Flag City Kite Fest

For anyone who might be interested in the first competition of the season (the American Kitefliers Association "season" runs from August 1 - July 31), here is a note from Spencer Schubbe who is putting together the Flag City Kite Fest: "Just a reminder that the Flag City Kite Fest wil...

Hey Chris,

We have fun when we meet up with you, too and Zach enjoys flying with you as well! Maybe sometime that 1/2 day off will coordinate with Zach and Elizabeth wanting to fly!

Re: Father's Day At Perry Farms

We had lots of fun getting to know Chris x 2 at Perry Farm. Thanks for being great sports and entering the competition. You both flew really well in spite of the short notice and less than ideal wind conditions. You should be very proud! We look forward to meeting up with you at future kite festival...

Re: Competition Question

Hi Chris, Precision consists of two separate sections. First the compulsories and then a technical routine. Three compulsory figures are flown first, these have been previously announced and posted. Then the technical portion takes place. This is a "full, flowing routine that demonstrates evide...

Re: List Of Spring And Summer Festivals For 2007

We have never attended this festival, but understand it is really informal and lots of fun. I believe Vickie and Dean Proudfoot (aka Sky Jesters) are regulars; I will forward them this link. Perhaps they could add more firsthand information.

Re: Perry Farm

Thanks for the update about the meeting today. I will confirm this, but I believe the Michigan Kitefest will be taking place on the weekend of June 9 - 10. That's not to say Perry Farm should not happen, but attendance may then be split. I agree with Mike that we need to offer places for sport kiter...

Re: Perry Farm

I believe that Perry Farm is a valuable festival and competition. For the most part, the trees and building don't factor into why Perry Farm has become a poor festival and competition. The years we had good weather, we had a wonderful time and great turnout. Granted, the flying is certainly not the ...

Re: Perry Farm

I have been attending the Perry Farm Kite Festival since it's inception and I feel that it is really important to keep this festival alive. It has been snakebit with bad weather for the last few years and we have lost spectators and fliers alike. It is one of the few competitive events we have left ...
