Re: Rev II questions

Nice. Was that at the SG sports complex?' We have met. I saw you flying your Wala once. I've been meaning to get out to fly, but spare time has been taken up by home maintenance. Yup, that's the place, and yup that was me! :) I hear ya on home maintenance ... seems like 10 years and this place is f...

Re: Rev II questions

Just for giggles, I setup a progressive stack of the Revs ... pulled more then I expected. I used 150# line. The wind was sort of squirely the other day (Thursday) but it flew all right. Here a few pictures (the last 3 in the album): https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10200465028690801.107374...

Re: Rev II questions

For what it's worth, the bridal on the Rev I seemed messed up to me. It actually looks and feels like regular old cotton string and has a lot of wear on it. My intent is to stack it so I may just remove the bridal entirely. I'll probably order a new bridal for it anyhow ... they're cheap. :) You mi...

All good info, thanks a ton Mike, that was a lot of help. I'll have to check The Kite Site out, where are they (physically) located?

Re: Rev II questions

If the Rev 1 is pink and black, then I think maybe Swannie drove out to Rockford . . . and beat me by a day on those kites. 8-) I tried to get the guy selling them to join IKE, because he's been flying for at least 20+ years, but I think he's getting ready to move as he's selling his house, etc...

Rev II questions

Hi all, I recently acquired a Rev II and a "Patent Pending" Rev I (which, unfortunately, is pink). My question today is on the Rev II, based on the panel layout and having the older logo I think it's from 1991 or so. The sail is in great condition, and the rest is in what I'd call "go...

I thought changing it to "I must be the smartest man on the plant as well ..." might look a little suspicious... :)

At least the official "3rd annual IKE Kite retreat" thread starts out with two of us calling ourselves idiots. :-D

I'm surprised I haven't bumped into him locally, actually ... maybe he knows a better local field then the one I go to. :)

Re: Question on making custom handles

Of course, half the fun is making them myself... ;) Thanks for the tip on the bridal line, I just bought some and that is what I shall use. :)

Question on making custom handles

Hey guys, I can't justify spending $60 on a set of no-snag handles when I've got the skills and most of the material already in my garage to make them ... so I've decided to make them. :) One question I have is the type of line used on the leaders? I looked at a set of handles and it looks like line...

Re: 3rd annual IKE Kite retreat?

I have a 1.5 SLE you're welcome to try. There are probably others in the group that could instruct you far better then I however. :)

Thanks for the info on the right thread to look for!

Re: Revolution frame opinions

LOL ... I'm glad I could start such a lively debate! :)

Now everyone hope for nice winds on Lake Michigan for me today ... The forecast doesn't look favorable so far. :)

Thanks for everyone's input!

Re: Revolution frame opinions

Thanks for the input everyone. It's interesting that the input here seems the exact opposite of what I was reading on the Rev forums, namely that the green race rods were indestructible when people were actually making attempts to break them. I guess it all comes down to the usage (and breakage) sce...

Revolution frame opinions

Hi all, I'm thinking of getting a set of green or black race rods for my 1.5's (I have a B series and an SLE). I was looking at this post, here , which detailed the various frame weights. I *think* I'm mostly interested in lighter wind use, but I notice that even the black ones are heavier then a 2 ...

Re: Dual Line kites for sale...

I'd think about an SLK, I have a few but they don't get much time in the air. I'd consider for a decent delta. I realize Revs go for a little more then what I have here, so if you were interested in trade I'm sure I might end up handing over a little cash too. :D I'd love to make it to a club fly at...

Dual Line kites for sale...

Hi all, I'm not sure if it's considered okay to post for sale items or not. I did a search and have seen others do it, so I'm going to guess it's okay ... if not, my apologies. :) I'm thinning my kite herd and have the following for sale: Premier Addiction Red/Orange with lines and straps. Used prob...

Re: Kite line weight selection

OK - I went out into the now cooler weather this afternoon to fly my ITW Mesa DC (a Delta Conynes) and I now know what a line "singing" sounds like ... creepy sound ... and it's gotten rather windy out there!
