Re: Possible Sugar Grove kite day

I got early word that the park district is planning on having a kite festival in early October. Looks like Chicago Kite has reached out to them or vice versa. It's where I usually fly and has some wide open spaces. I'd like it to succeed, but it will be competing with peewee football. Nice, where a...

Re: Must. Fly.

But you were on a BIG boat. Constant wind . . .. . all you need are short lines. Forecast showing 14 out of the NNW on Saturday afternoon, low chance of rain. Sounds about right for St. Charles. Vented, DuKane style. Let me double check with the Wifey, but I think it'll work out. My vented is my fa...

Re: Must. Fly.

Sadly, not enough. All the effort I put in bringing lots over and I think I made it out only once or twice. It was actually pretty hard to find a good spot to fly.

Must. Fly.

It's been weeks (maybe months) ... anyone up for a local fly this weekend? The forecast for Saturday looks craptastic, but Sunday might have possibilities.

I won't make it this year ... I'll be trying not to get sea sick. I had a lot of fun at last years retreat, so I'm sorry I'm missing this one.

Didn't notice that, doh! Yeah, a bit far unfortunately (2.5 hours) ... no matter, we've been working so much I haven't had time to fly even if I had found a good place to do it...

Where in The Netherlands are you from? I go back and forth to northwest Germany all the time (Papenburg, specifically) ... I'm about 45 minutes from Groningen.

Re: Wind Apps

I'm still searching for a good place to fly while I'm in Germany, and I came across this website. It looks like the same data you can get out of WindAlert, or any of the other websites/apps that base their data on the various weather models, but it has a really nice interactive way of displaying it....

N.Y.M. Flutter

Hey guys, Anyone have any amount of time on any of the NYM kites yet? I flew mine a bit over the weekend and the trailing edge fluttered quite a bit. I tried to tighten the bottom bungies a bit but it didn't seem to help. I don't have flutter problems with any of my other kites, but if/when I do it ...

Doesn't look quite right ... The more I think about it I wonder if it was for sea gull abatement more then entertainment value. It definitely wasn't one of those realistic Jackite ones though...
