Re: 2nd Annual IKE Retreat! Sept 29-30

I've always liked the logo. Hey, that reminds me ... what's the process for obtaining a club t-shirt?

Re: 2nd Annual IKE Retreat! Sept 29-30

To the extent that IKE has a reputation as a quad club, we might be on the way toward changing that!

I'm tentatively planning a day trip to the retreat on Sep. 29. If I'm there, I'll have my new Premier Widow and you're welcome to try it.

Re: 2nd Annual IKE Retreat! Sept 29-30

Sounds good. BTW, I "accidentally" picked up some ancient dualies as part of a package deal for an old Rev2 . . . so there may be even more stuff to lawn-dart into the beach that weekend (assuming I can come up with some replacement spreader parts by then for the dualies). I like to buy p...

You might also try contacting Ed Grys, who is regional director of the American Kitefliers Association (AKA). Ed is located in Wisconsin but his region includes Illinois. You can reach him at ejgrys@gmail.com. He might know of AKA members who are close to you.

Re: 2nd Annual IKE Retreat! Sept 29-30

@tmadz - Hey, sorry if I overreacted the other day in my reply here. I had a stressful day at work. I did pick up a used prism e2 at Mots so now I will be able to fly some dual line stuff with y'all. FWIW, although your original message was not directed at me, I did not take it as overreaction. And...

Mike:

If you're not going to Mots, we'd love to see you at Muncie (even though it would be about 3.5 hours of driving across Indiana to get there). Dave, you too, since it's a pretty easy drive from Dayton (we usually have a contingent from PIGS Aloft present).

Re: 2nd Annual IKE Retreat! Sept 29-30

Could probably be talked into trying someone's Rev., if they're brave enough! You bet, I have a couple "beater" revs for exactly this purpose. Any chance I can get some time on a beater dualie (but one that's better than my mass market dual line)? I'm too new to the hobby to have yet rele...

LOL, can't believe I forgot to include the date. It's Sep. 8. I had planned to put the date in the topic title but exceeded the character limit and forgot to move it to the body of the message!

Hoosier Kitefliers Society Merritt Beck Memorial Fun Fly

Sep. 8, 2012. All IKE members are invited! This is a fun fly to honor the late Indiana kite-maker Merritt Beck. People who own Merritt's kites will fly them but people will also fly all other kinds of kites, including dual and (gasp!) quad sport kites. The venue is fantastic: 1,000 acres of mowed fi...

Tell everyone you're going by clicking on "Going" on our facebook events page! I might come for a day. Depends on what the wife ends up doing that weekend. I don't have a Facebook account so you won't see me on the events page. Just ordered a new Premier Widow directly from Jon T's shop (...

Re: 2nd Annual IKE Retreat! Sept 29-30

I really hate to belabor the point but I think it's best for all first-time visitors if we're very clear about the correct name of the location. Based on all you've written above, I'm fairly certain you're describing Indiana Dunes State Park . Although the state park is nestled in the Indiana Dunes ...

Re: 2nd Annual IKE Retreat! Sept 29-30

I just noticed some possible confusion for anyone who didn't attend this event last year. The Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore and the Indiana Dunes State Park are different. In addition, the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore has an East Unit and a West Unit. Between the two units, there are at least...
