Re: WSIKF 2013

Peggy and I would love to see the mass Rev fly but she's a college professor and that week will be the first week of classes, so we're out.

Re: Fort Wayne Church to Host One Sky, One World Fun Fly

No way we could fly, even though the sun shined for part of the afternoon. Sustained wind of 20 MPH with gusts to 45. We'll probably try again this coming Sunday, even though it won't officially be OSOW day.

Re: Fort Wayne Church to Host One Sky, One World Fun Fly

ok so the lightning isn't a good thing... did you see the article on yahoo about the flyer hit by lightning... he is ok.. wonder if he is one of us from the forums. Didn't see it. Got the URL? I'm no Ben Franklin (although one of my great grandfathers was named after him), so if there's lightning, ...

Re: Fort Wayne Church to Host One Sky, One World Fun Fly

As of Oct. 12, the Oct. 14 forecast looks pretty bad. I'll post day-of updates on http://www.hoosierkite.org . Oct. 14 forecast as of Oct. 12: "Sunday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 2pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 70. Breezy, w...

Snagless? You mean handles come in both multiple sizes and with and without snags? Isn't a snag a bad thing? If so, why does anyone make a handle that snags?

Perhaps someone needs to create a "Rev. Newb FAQ" for all this info!

Thanks, 11, very helpful stuff. A newb (like me) might otherwise assume that the 1.5 SLE is a better kite because it's more expensive than the EXP.

What? There are different handles, too? Man, how does one keep all these Rev options form making one's head spin?

Re: Suggestions on a good starter Rev

Personally I'd stick with a nice used Standard (full-sail) 1.5, whether EXP, SLE, or B-Series 1.5. In terms of learning to fly, what's the difference between the EXP and SLE? I know the SLE has the "super leading edge". What I don't know is how that affects (if at all) learning to fly the...

Thanks, they had some great things to say, didn't they? It was really more like a fun chat about kite flying than an interview. All I had to do was transcribe it and edit the transcription a bit!

Re: 2nd Annual IKE Retreat! Sept 29-30

That seems ok to me. Tentatively, we'll plan it for 9/21 -9/22. But we'll have to see how it meshes with the Wisconsin and Indiana kite clubs as well as other festivals. In fact, there might be some wisdom in waiting until a few months out to find out what date works for the majority of people, as ...

Re: 2nd Annual IKE Retreat! Sept 29-30

Don't think the date has been set yet for the 2013 AKA convention but having IKE one week earlier might improve the chances that people could attend both AKA and IKE. I was going to invite some friends to attend IKE this year until I realized they'd be busy packing for and/or traveling to AKA.

Thanks Kitevoice!! Nice photos & video! You're welcome, 11. I hope you can use some of the shots in your presentation to the kite collector's widow. And be sure to let me know when you're ready to get rid of some of those kites ... I might be interested in relieving you of one, depending on the...

Indiana Fun Fly 10/6: Lunch Provided!

This is too far for most of you Illinois folks, but the Ohio and Michigan members might be interested. The 3M plant in Hartford City, Indiana, is celebrating an anniversary this Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012 and invited the Hoosier Kitefliers Society to host a fun fly at the plant in conjunction with the f...
